Coronation Street: Adam exposes lying pregnant wife Sarah at gender reveal party
Coronation Street’s Henry Newton (played by George Banks) recently returned to Weatherfield with the star opening up about his character’s “true” intentions this time around.
A few years ago, Henry had a thing for Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell) but the feelings weren’t reciprocated and Gemma was glad to see the back of him.
The pair recently reconnected when Jenny Connor (Sally-Ann Matthews) realised she would have to close the Rovers Return if she couldn’t find someone to buy it.
Henry actor George Banks recently opened up about his return to the cobbles and admitted his intentions weren’t as ill-fated as the first time.
“He came close to being the landlord during his last time in the street. I think the Rovers for him, as well as for many of Corrie’s viewers, holds a special place in his heart,” he told Metro.co.uk.

“He has a lot of fond memories, he enjoys going to a place that his granddad Cecil loved as well.
“And actually, I think there’s a fondness for his granddad and the Rovers too, It has some really powerful memories for him and I don’t think he had realised that until now.
“It’s a place that he holds quite dear. So yeah, I think he is genuinely interested in trying to help, I’m not sure he is thinking about the business side and his heart is ruling his head a bit.”
George also touched on how his intentions were honest with Gemma and noted there was a romantic aspect to it.

“I do think for him there is that sort of romantic aspect to it. When you meet an old flame you can’t help but be reminded of the times you had together.
“And for him, they were good times before it all went wrong and that was his fault.”
As well as his relationship with Gemma, Henry has a fractured one with Jenny after he previously tried to scam her and Johnny Connor (Richard Hawley) into compensation after staging an “accident” in the pub’s cellar.
Will Henry set his sights on Gemma once again or will he leave her happily married to Chesney Brown (Sam Aston)?
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV.
