Coronation Street's Jacob Hay star Jack James Ryan has bid an emotional farewell to his co-star, Joe Frost, whose character Leo Thompkins was killed off the cobbles on Monday.
During the latest instalment, Leo was on a mission to prove that Stephen Reid is a liar after learning that he had kissed his fiancée Jenny Connor when she was drunk and they had briefly split.
Leo decided to speak to the estate agent who was booked to value Audrey Roberts' house, before eavesdropping on a conversation with Gabrielle.
Confronting Stephen on the balcony behind the Underworld factory, Leo revealed he had heard every word and knew about his plan to get his hands on the equity from Audrey’s house to pay her back.
As Stephen followed him onto the factory gantry, Leo taunted him, threatening to call Audrey as well as the police.
To which Stephen snapped as he attacked Leo, pushing him off the balcony as he fell into the open bin below and it was later confirmed that he was dead.
Taking to Twitter after the scenes aired, Jacob star Jack bid an emotional farewell to Leo star Joe after his explosive exit on the ITV cobbles.
Jack tweeted: "Brilliant episode of #Corrie tonight, quality stuff from @matthiltondir. Gutted to see @Joe_Frost1 go, he’s an absolute class act and a total gent. We were totally deprived of Jacob & Leo content. See you on the next one brother! RIP Leo x."
To which Joe re-tweeted and added: "We’ll find our spin off in the next life pal. Here’s to the rise of Jacob Hay."
Viewers were also quick to share their own emotional farewells to Leo actor Joe, with one person writing: "@Joe_Frost1 Can't believe they have killed Leo off poor Jenny. Brilliant acting last night and good luck for the future. X."
A different account put: "Was really enjoying seeing Leo start to get more screen time in what looked like a decent plot…Classic Corrie twist though, we didn't see this coming! Best of luck in whatever you do next mate."
Another follower said: "Never expected that! Will miss you on Corrie- Jenny never has any luck" with a crying emoji.
While a different soap watcher added: "Really sorry to see you go from Corrie."
