Coronation Street actor Joe Duttine has opened up about the reality of working with his wife, and fellow co-star, Sally Carman.
After meeting on the set of the ITV soap, the pair, who play Tim Metcalfe and Abi Franklin on the cobbles, tied the knot back in July 2022 after a few years of dating and announced the happy news in a heartwarming Instagram post.
However, despite working together, 53 year old Joe has spoken about the realities of working on set with Sally, 42, during an appearance on ITV’s Lorraine on Monday 9 October.
When asked by Lorraine Kelly how he felt about not doing many scenes with Sally while on the soap, he said that the experience would be “odd” if it was any different.
He said: “We’re sort of good with that though. I don’t think we’d work well together. It would be a little bit odd.”
Joe and Sally met on the cobbles in 2017,but they were friends to begin with before their platonic relationship turned into a romantic one.
Despite rumours floating about, Joe and Sally didn't publicly confirm their romance until early 2019.
However, they did post a lovely selfie together back in early December 2018, which could have been a hint that they were an item.
In a previous appearance on Lorraine, Sally opened up about how their relationship developed and explained that she and Joe were friends “for a while” before things developed further.
She explained: “We were friends for a while, but then we started sharing puddings and that’s when I thought maybe something was on the boil."
Meanwhile, in another interview withThe Mirror, the soap star added that she and Joe started seeing each other casually but that things slowly but surely progressed into something more serious.
“We were so casual for so long, it just took care of itself, there was no agenda,” she said, adding: “He’s really kind, and that can fall under the radar at times, but he won’t let anyone struggle, he’s always helping.”
"He’ll always have a think if someone’s not had a good day and he’ll send them a message. He’s a real softie, a genuine nice bloke.”
After two and a half years of dating, and after buying a house together, Joe popped the question to Sally during lockdown in March 2020.
Under the spring sunshine, the pair enjoyed a countryside walk before popping a bottle of bubbly and Joe popped the question.
