Coronation Street's Tina O'Brien reunites with onscreen best friend Nikki Sanderson 17 years after she quit soap | The Sun

CORONATION Street star Tina O'Brien has reunited with her onscreen best friend Nikki Sanderson 17 years after quitting the soap.

The actress took to social media to reveal the pair had met up at an event, as they posed together for a photo on Instagram.


Tina, 39, who is best known for her role as Sarah Platt on the ITV soap, could be seen smiling next to Nikki, 38.

Best known for playing Candice Stowe in the long-running programme, played character Sarah's best mate for six years.

Nikki left the soap 17 years ago, when she was just 21-year-old, and went on to star as Maxine Minniver in Hollyoaks.

Now, the former on-screen best pals have been reunited as they headed to a couture dress store together on a rare day out.

Tina let her long blonde hair trail down her chest as she posed for the snap, wearing a black mini dress which she paired with black boots.

Meanwhile, Nikki opted for a pair of blue jeans and a white top, which she paired with a bright pink blazer and white trainers.

She let her long brunette locks fall down her back, as she revealed her light palette of make-up for the trip out.

It comes after Nikki revealed she would not rule out returning to Coronation Street – 17 years after she left the show.

When quizzed by fans on Instagram about whether she would make a comeback, Candice Stowe actress Nikki said: "Never say never."

She continued: "I'm so happy at Hollyoaks, so I'll be there for the forseable. But so never say never."

The soap star, who currently plays Maxine Minniver in Hollyoaks, had previously praised the bosses for their support after she opened up about mental health issues

She said: "At Hollyoaks they email us all the time, reminding us they’re there and checking in on us. That’s hugely helpful."

Meanwhile, earlier this year Tina gave a rare interview to Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary on This Morning.

As they opened with a montage of the star through the years many were astonished how little she's changed in her 23 years on the show.

Taking to Twitter, one wrote: "Tina O'Brien doesn't age at all, does she?" as a second gushed: "Tina O'Brien hasn't aged in 23 years."

A third said of the star, who had a seven-year-old that she "doesn't look old enough" to have a child.
