Coronation Street legend Maureen Lipman has blasted the 'wokes' for trying to make everyone in the TV and film industry "an actor".
The outspoken 76-year-old thinks it is wrong that women in her profession are now often referred to by the traditional male noun.
Maureen – who has just signed a new contract to stay on the ITV soap as busybody Evelyn Plummer for another year – said: "I am an actress – not an actor.

"And if somebody tries to take the word 'woman' away from me, I shall be very cross!"
"Yes, some of my views can be a little old-fashioned," continued the star, who has been appearing in films and on television since the 60s.
"But don't attack me for them."
"Consider my point of view," she urged. "Demonstrate a little kindness. Be patient."
And Maureen also took a bit of a swipe at the critics and trolls who had attacked Harry Potter author JK Rowling.
The writer has faced accusations of transphobia after she took issue with an online article which used the words "people who menstruate" instead of "women".
The author has even had death threats over her comments.
However, Maureen spoke out against cancel culture.
"If you have to kick a** at someone like Joanne Rowling, who's literally taught a generation to read, something's not right," she said.
"Don't wipe out the good a person does because they've done or said one thing you don't agree with."
The no-nonsense star also shared that she would not mind having a role in the saucy Netflix series Sex Education, which follows teenager Otis (Asa Butterfield) and his school friends and his sex therapist mum Jean (Gillian Anderson).
"Would I like to be in Sex Education?" she asked.
"Yes, of course."
"But am I sorry I've signed up with Corrie for another year?" added the star. "No, I'm not."
