Corrie Tyrone star’s love life – co-star romance, on-screen kiss and sad divorce

Alan Halsall's romantic journey might not have been as vibrant as Tyrone Dobbs' but it has certainly been infused with levels of drama reminiscent of Coronation Street’s rollercoaster plot lines.

Having taken on the role of the bumbling yet endearing Tyrone back in 1998, the beloved actor has remained a fixture on the Corrie cast ever since.

Having navigated many whirlwind romance plotlines during his time on the show, most notably with co-star Jennie McAlpine, who plays Fiz Stape, the star didn’t need to look much further than the cobbles to find love.

Having once married a co-star and now dating another, Alan’s love life is fit for it’s very own Corrie plotline. Daily Star has taken a closer look

Co-star romance

In the midst of their shared on-screen journey, sparks flew between Alan Halsall and Lucy-Jo Hudson, the actress who mesmerized audiences as Katy Harris from 2002 to 2005.

The lovebirds sealed the deal with a picturesque wedding in Cheshire back in 2009.

The icing on the cake arrived in September 2013 when they celebrated the birth of their adorable daughter, Sienna-Rae.

The pair sadly decided to split but Alan and Lucy-Jo managed to rekindle their flame once again.

However, the couple's journey took a dramatic turn in May 2018 when Lucy-Jo dropped the bombshell they were divorcing for good.

Speaking of their amicable split, Lucy-Jo said on Loose Women: "We're so amicable. We get on and we speak every day.

“He comes round for a brew. We will maintain as mummy and daddy."

In a heartwarming revelation, the veteran actor candidly shared his sentiments about his enduring on-screen romance with co-star Jennie McApline, who plays Fiz Stape.

Having been a pivotal part of the show since 1998, Halsall's portrayal of the Weatherfield mechanic has seen its fair share of compelling narratives, yet it's his on-screen love story that has captured hearts.

Their journey of affection began over two decades ago when they shared their very first kiss, a memory that Halsall himself reflected on with nostalgia.

Chatting to the Daily Star, he shared: "It was interesting because we did an interview and we got to see back our very first kiss, which was 21 years ago.

“So I've probably been kissing Jennie for longer than anyone else in my life."

Happily ever after

The star stayed true to form after his failed marriage to his Corrie co-star by finding love with another Coronation Street actress, Tisha Merry, who portrays the charismatic Steph Britton.

In 2019, their connection reached a new level as they decided to take the plunge and move in together, a significant step in their whirlwind romance that began in April of the same year.

In 2020, Halsall couldn't help but gush about their blossoming relationship on Instagram.

Alongside an adorable snapshot of the couple, he captioned: "1 year. 12 months. 52 weeks. 365 days. 8760 hours. 525,600 minutes, 31,536,000 seconds…….& I’ve loved every second.

"What a difference a year makes and what a difference you make to my life!!"

Overflowing with affection, he added: "Happy anniversary @missdrewmerry93 I love you."

Tisha also spoke candidly to OK! Magazine, expressing her admiration for her beau.
