‘You’ve got a kind heart, but some people don’t deserve a second chance’, Yasmeen (Shelley King) said to partner Stu (Bill Fellows) in Coronation Street tonight.
Yasmeen wasn’t addressing Stu when she said that – she was talking about Ryan (Ryan Prescott), who robbed the Bistro this week, but those words are certainly ringing in her ears after Stu’s massive secret was revealed.
Stu has been stressed this week, trying to get things together for the new saving food scheme involving the businesses in Weatherfield.
To promote it, Yasmeen managed to get coverage in the Weathy Gazette, and when Stu checked it out, he was horrified.
Suki, the journalist, had focused more on Stu being homeless and turning his life around – he was front page.
To Yasmeen and Alya (Sair Khan), they assumed Stu was a little embarrassed at the images – but there was actually another reason why he didn’t want his face in the media.
And then Lucy arrived.
Lucy – Stu’s ex-wife – confronted him and asserted their daughter, Bridget, doesn’t want to see him.
When Yasmeen and Alya walked over, they were keen to know what on earth was going on.
Lucy then revealed Stu’s terrible secret – he spent years behind bars, doing time for murdering a young woman called Charlie.
Stu told Yasmeen and Alya that he’s innocent, he was wrongly imprisoned, but given Yasmeen’s past with Geoff, she wasn’t sure what to believe.
Confused and so overwhelmed, Yasmeen found Lucy and asked her to explain what happened.
Lucy revealed that when Stu returned from the Navy, he struggled to adapt to normal life again, but when he got a job at a restaurant, everything changed.
Stu was a lot happier, but when a waitress from the restaurant was found dead in a woodland after going missing – Stu’s DNA was all over her.
Understandably, Yasmeen wondered if there was a miscarriage of justice – but Lucy confirmed he had confessed to the crime.
Heading back to Speed Daal, Yasmeen told Alya that she had let another man like Geoff into her life and doesn’t want to see Stu ever again.
For Lucy, Bridget, and now Yasmeen, they all believe Stu murdered Charlie, but what really happened?
Is Stu telling the truth?
Was he wrongly imprisoned for this heinous crime?
Or is he a murderer?
‘I think the audience will be torn because they have grown fond of Stu but they also love Yasmeen’, Bill Fellows recently told us.
‘It’s going to be really hard for Stu to convince people. We’ve known Stu for a long time now but I think people are going to start doubting him and they will want to protect Yasmeen more than Stu.
‘It’s going to be really interesting, will the audience believe Stu or not? I believe him!’
