Official trailer for Season 2 of ‘Dalgliesh’
Dalgliesh has been airing on Channel 5 with Bertie Carvel and Carlyss Peer returning as the title character and his colleague, Kate Miskin.
Across three separate murder mysteries, the relationship between Kate and Dalgliesh has been a turbulent one, with Kate having developed feelings for him.
She has come a long way since joining the force and has certainly proven herself as a talented detective.
Ahead of season two airing, it was confirmed Dalgliesh has been commissioned for a third series which will continue the novels by P.D. James.
Actress Carlyss spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk and other press about what to expect.
When asked how she felt about the series being renewed so early on, she said: “I think it’s so lovely to be involved in something that people enjoy and that the producing team and everyone are really passionate about and believe in.
“I think that’s exciting, and I also think the way Helen Edmunson has written these episodes, there is such life, such detail, such exciting things to mine and get involved with that it’s only a complete joy.
“The idea of having that opportunity again to develop, to dig deeper and go even further with these characters.
“And also get to explore the different worlds that she paints in those episodes where you have really got the different vibes in each thing.

“I know Kate’s journey in that is yet to be confirmed but the things they have mentioned I think will be an exciting twist for the audience as well.”
When asked about how far she sees the series going and whether it could continue for years to come, she said: “I mean, hey, let’s hope so.
“I think Bertie is such a fantastic Dalgliesh, I think there’s so much more to be found.
“I know there’s 14 novels that this is based on so there’s definitely more stories to be had.
“I think Helen has such an amazing way of taking on the energy of P.D. James I think she could write some without being based on PD James’ original and I think she would still be really true to the original novelist and the energies of that.
“So fingers crossed, we will see Dalgliesh for many more seasons to come.”
The first two seasons were made up of three two-part stories, told across six episodes.
With this in mind, it can be presumed the third outing will follow the same format, although firm details on its release are yet to come to light.
Dalgliesh is available to watch on My5.
