"2 things happened today… 1. I had my first solid food, 2. I ordered a new cycling helmet. Thank you for all the lovely messages & for asking how I’m doing."
Dan added: "The swelling is going down but the body is still aching."
On Monday morning, Dan shared bloody images of his face with his fans but reassured everyone that he was on the mend after being hit by a car while riding his bike.
"Bit of an accident this morning," he tweeted alongside images of him in an ambulance with the paramedics that were called to the scene. "Glad to be alive after getting hit by a car on my bike. Face is a mess but I don’t think anything is broken."
"Thanks to Shaun and Jamie for sorting me out and the lovely copper at the scene. This is me smiling, thankful for our NHS," he continued.
In a follow up tweet, Dan provided some more information about his accident and his "lack of memory," writing: "Blown away by all the lovely messages. Thank you."
"Just got home from hospital. Battered and bruised but – amazingly – nothing broken," he added.
"Very thankful to still be here. I have no memory of anything and just remember coming round on the tarmac with paramedics & police around me."
A day later, Dan told fans: "It’s odd to get lectured by people telling me that bike helmets aren’t important when the emergency services at the scene yesterday told me I probably wouldn’t be here if I wasn’t wearing one."
