During the dramatic episode, his character, Mick Carter, appeared to "die" after attempting to save his beloved Linda from the sea, with the businessman not returning from the water.
Now, Danny, 45, has taken to social media from what appeared to be a tropical holiday as he shared a cryptic clue about the future of Mick Carter.

In view of his 1.3 million Instagram followers, the actor claimed Mick was "having a rest" from the troubles of Walford.
While lapping up the tropical sun while wearing a pair of swimming shorts, he said: "Don't worry, I know it was emotional last night.
"It was a very nutty episode, but don't be concerned because I f*****g made it," before looking out at the crystal clear ocean.
The star continued: " I mean it was a c**t of a swim, but let me tell you it was worth it, Mick needed a rest, it was time for him to move on – a new chapter.
"I wanted to take this opportunity to thank all my castmates, every single one of you. I love you all dearly and I'm very honoured to have worked with you for as long as I have and I'll relish them moments for the rest of my life."
Danny continued: "I'm not going to name names, there's too many of you, of course, my Carter family mean everything to me.
"It's the end of an era but, as I said, I really appreciate and I'm very grateful for everything, including running the Queen Vic. So, again, don't stress and especially the fans who have voted for me and invested in Mick and made him the character he is.
"But he had to get away you know,– Janine was driving him f*****g mad.
"So Merry Christmas, happy new year and don't worry about Mick because he's sweet as a f*****g nut."
Fans instantly flocked to the comment section to gush over the star, with one writing: "LEDGE Swam all that way with his shoes on .. Ah man I love Mick Carter!! Gonna miss him so much but an amazing adventure ahead for you. Merry Christmas DD."
"Didn't see the dead body you just disappeared looking forward to your return in future," commented a second.
A third went on to type: "Legend," while another thanked Danny for the memories.
