The Walking Dead: Dead City official trailer
Although AMC’s acclaimed post-apocalyptic series The Walking Dead came to an end in November 2022, fans will soon be re-introduced to their favourite characters.
Dead City will be the first sequel to come from the hit franchise, as Jeffrey Dean Morgan reprises his role as Negan alongside Maggie’s Lauren Cohan.
Ahead of its June premiere, AMC released an action-packed trailer which sees the former enemies reunite as they head to New York.
Negan and Maggie will take on new enemies in the Big Apple as they fight to rescue her son, Hershel Rhee (played by Logan Kim).
However, as fans took to Twitter with excitement and anticipation, eagle-eyed viewers spotted a new walker variant.
After sharing a photo of the new walker, @TWalkingDWorld tweeted: “WHAT IS THIS SCARY NEW WALKER?!”
A second fan @saulmcgills wrote: “THIS S**T IS HIDEOUS?????”
@Juanobscure96 shared: “It had been a long time since a walker seemed so terrifying to me. My goodness, it must be difficult to finish him off!”
A fearful @Neonderland added: “WTF?!? That’s actually freaking scary.”

A thrilled @II_Songbird_II stated: “It’s giving the rat king and I’m here for it.”
@CMehtra noted: “Looks like a bunch of walkers that were melted together, gross but cool asf.”
The trailer depicted New York in a new light as the crumbling city was riddled with masses of walkers.
During WonderCon, showrunner Eli Jorné teased: “It’s The Walking Dead like we’ve never seen it before. We haven’t really lived in a city like this.
“It’s New York; there’s skyscrapers up to the sky and a million and a half walkers.
“And for characters like Maggie and Negan, who’ve been running through the woods for a long time.”
Eli continued: “It’s just a whole new world that’s just extremely claustrophobic, scary, and also, as you’ll discover, has pockets of survivors.
“You’ll get to see all the strange new ways they live in the apocalypse, it’s definitely like nothing you’ve seen before.”
The Walking Dead: Dead City premieres on Sunday, June 18 on AMC in the USA and on Disney+ in the UK.
