The Ryan Reynolds-starring movie, which is currently filming in England, has reportedly added the ‘Daredevil’ actress to the cast after convincing Hugh Jackman to come out of retirement as Wolverine.
AceShowbiz -Another familiar superhero will cross paths with Deadpool in its third movie. After successfully convincing Hugh Jackman to come out of retirement as Logan a.k.a. Wolverine, “Deadpool 3” will reportedly bring back Jennifer Garner as Elektra.
Multiple sources spill the beans to The Hollywood Reporter, but Marvel has not confirmed the casting news. Should it be true, it will mark Garner’s first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The 51-year-old first portrayed Elektra Natchios in 2003’s “Daredevil, The Movie“, in which she starred with her future ex-husband Ben Affleck. She then reprised the role and took the lead in the spin-off, “Elektra” (2005), but has not picked up the sai again since then. Both films were distributed by 20th Century Fox.
In “Deadpool 3”, Garner will join Ryan Reynolds, who returns as Wade Wilson a.k.a. the titular antihero. The two previously starred together in 2022’s “The Adam Project“, which was directed by “Deadpool 3” director Shawn Levy.
The upcoming third “Deadpool” pic is currently filming in England. Production began in May despite the Writers Guild of America strike. On Thursday, July 6, set photos surfaced online, giving first look at Reynolds’ new Deadpool costume. The suit features very few changes from the outfit donned in his R-rated Fox movies. Some gold highlights have been added to the black areas on the costume, but the overall design remains the same.
The biggest change to the costume is the color. Where “Deadpool” and its sequel “Deadpool 2” had a largely muted color palette, the red of the suit in the new set photos is surprisingly bright, almost similar with the coloring in the comics. This may indicate a distinction between the MCU and the 20th Century Fox universe where Deadpool debuted.
“Deadpool 3” also has Morena Baccarin, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, Brianna Hildebrand, Shioli Kutsuna and Stefan Kapicic among the returning cast, but Zazie Beetz has confirmed that she will not return for the threequel. The movie is scheduled to arrive in U.S. theaters on May 3, 2024.
