During his long career as a builder and a presenter, Nick Knowles has seen some absolutely outrageous errors, and a lot of them have been captured on DIY SOS, with some even landing him in hot water.
On his popular show, which is still up-and-running after 27 seasons, it's fair to say the host has seen it all. From arguments to errors you'd hope even a monkey wouldn't make, the programme has left viewers speechless on more than one occasion.
But even after two decades of television filled with utterly ridiculous moments, there are still some that stand out from the pack. And in all reality, a lot of the guests rightfully have a bee in their bonnet about the way their houses have been left.

So, without further ado, let's have a look at the incidents that rendered Knowles speechless. And there's heartwrenching stories in there.
Builder walks out during heated argument
The whole premise of the show, is to go the extra mile for those who need it. Thus, when social worker Liz and her husband Jason, who suffers from motor neurone disease, asked for help, Knowles was happy to oblige.
With the couple needing a new space for their two children to live, the team knew they needed to pull out all the stops. But with that pressure, comes a lot of tension, and two workers fell foul to the stressful environment.
A plasterer named Chris had worked tirelessly to sort out the home's ceiling. However, in a devastating turn of events, he realised he'd have to take the whole thing down and start again.
Nick narrated: “It does mean you’re going have two chippies hanging out of Chris’s newly re-plastered ceiling. That’s not going to go down well."
Enraged at the situation, Chris kicked-off, telling the woodworker: “That is the last bit of plastering happening in this house," before he stormed outside.
Seeing the funny side, Nick continued: “Oh no it isn’t! All people who think they’ve stopped plastering take one step forward. Chris, where do you think you’re going?”
Luckily, after some convincing, he returned inside and finished the nine-day project, much to the delight of Jason. He said: "It’s so overwhelming. It’s a massive weight off my mind; it’s all safe and clean. I just can’t believe it’s our house."
Single dad with multiple sclerosis claims the BBC ruined his house
While a lot of Knowles' clients come away from the show with a sense of euphoria, not everyone is so happy. Single dad Stuart Philip, who is wheelchair-bound due to multiple sclerosis, and his blind carer mum, Lin, were rendered furious after they alleged that the team failed to put together the extension they promised.
By supposedly leaving the job half done, Stuart has been left staring at a wall all day, while his 17-year-old daughter, Lauren, now has a smaller bedroom than when the build commenced. To make matters worse. Lin doesn't even have space for a chair in her tiny room.
Lin gave up her own flat to move in with Stuart, under the illusion there'd be more space. Stuart confessed: “Mum was much happier where she was before. She had friends, and she had more space.”
Lin lost her vision in the 1980s, but in a testament to her character, still does her utmost to care for her son. She explained: "I’m really pleased I’m here because Stuart is getting worse and needs me more.”
Sadly, after the rebuild, the property did not have the requisite features to cater for Stuart's condition. Unfortunately, it takes great difficulty for him to get his wheelchair out of the backdoor. He stressed: "It’s a bit ‘Wahey’, and I nearly topple over backwards every time because it’s not a disabled door."
'Nick Knowles ruined my family home'
In an attempt to improve his home life, 64-year-old Peter Chapman, who is a full-time carer to his ill wife, Sarah, and autistic brother, Steve, asked for the help of the DIY SOS team. However, they did such a terrible job, that he's having to move out of what he described as 'Hell'.
Consequently, he's entered into a legal battle with the BBC, under the grounds that the tradespeople caused £30,000 worth of destruction. Peter says that the wall bars, necessary for wheelchair-bound Sarah, to use the loo, ended up falling apart.
In addition, he complained of a leaking roof, which now needs a bucket to catch water, and cracks on the patio, which make it very unsafe for wheelchair use. And while the BBC have offered to give him £15,000, that's only half of what he needs.
In an interview with The Daily Mail, Peter explained that due to the trauma, he's decided to move to the US to join his son, who's lived there for two decades. He said: "We're so fed up with it that we will eventually be moving.
"It's a difficult decision, but I feel so wronged by what they did to me. He went on to add that DIY SOS has "robbed" him of the last three years, and that the "stress is killing me."
