Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) will accompany dying wife Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) on a day out in upcoming EastEnders scenes, with cast members of the show having been spotted filming on-location.
Lola, as viewers know, was diagnosed with an incurable brain tumour last year, after suffering a number of seizures, and she was subsequently told by doctors that her illness was terminal.
The hairdresser has since been undergoing treatment in an attempt to prolong her life.
However, an MRI scan recently revealed that the chemotherapy had stopped working, after Lola began suffering spells of memory loss and zoning out.
Lola was subsequently summoned to the hospital, where she was told that she now has only six months left to live, leaving both she and husband Jay devastated.
In upcoming scenes, set to air next week, Lola will begin to get her affairs in order, including making big decisions for daughter Lexi’s (Isabella Brown) future.
But further down the line, she and Jay will also enjoy a day out to the seaside, with cast members Danielle Harold and Jay Brown having been spotted filming on-location.
Expect reminiscing aplenty, as the couple – who tied the knot in a romantic ceremony earlier this year – venture towards the choppy waves, taking in their surroundings in what will no doubt be incredibly emotional scenes.
After a spot of looking back, Jay approaches his wife, giving her a kiss on the head, as they continue to make memories while they can.
Lola’s condition will continue to deteriorate in the coming months, with the beautician pictured in these scenes using a wheelchair to get around.
Upon finding out how long she’s got left to live, Lola shared the news with her family during her fundraiser event.
Her family were devastated by the news, with Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) pointing out that he’d put all of his money in the charity bucket if it would help Lola get better.
Lola admitted that there was nothing else doctors could do for her, which left daughter Lexi (Isabella Brown) heartbroken.
EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
