EastEnders Rocky Cotton actor Brian Conley has shared one of his biggest struggles on set as he admits he is always confusing hi co-stars’ names.
The actor, 61, sat down for a chat with the Daily Star to discuss his current role on the BBC soap as Rocky gets set to marry Kathy Beale amid a slew of drama.
But Brian confessed that he often gets confused between the real names of the cast and their character names, and has to stop filming due to his blunders.

Speaking to The Daily Star about his wedding to Kathy Beale, Brian said: “Is it Kathy or is it Gillian?
“That’s the problem as well you’ve gotta know both their names.
“That is tough, it takes you years to learn.
“Is it Steve or is that Phil?”
One of the biggest character name struggles he faces is with co-star Perry Fenwick who plays Billy Mitchell on the soap.
“With Billy, his character Billy, his real name is Perry, I’m always saying Perry. ‘y’aright Perry, I mean Billy’”

Brian also admitted that he sometimes struggles to remember all his lines on the show.
“you do get lost in it. I’ve had two months full on and that’s what I find exciting and the thing that really scared me initially is the amount you had to learn.
“you had to learn reams and reams and it comes in waves.
“I knew there was a big wave coming up and my wife and kids ask me to watch a film and I say no I’ve gotta look this.
“When I drive in I’ve got my cassettes. it’s takes over your world for a short time but I’m getting better.”
The star also revealed that he often finds himself in fits of laughter with his co-stars and struggles to regain his composure inbetween scenes.
He recalled filming a scene with Jack Branning actor Scott Maslen, who he says “couldn’t be more different to his on-screen persona,” where the pair were in hysterics laughing.
But unlike Scott and Ben Mitchell star Max Bowden, Brian needed a moment to compose himself.
“I had to do a scene recently with Scott. It was very intense, and he made laugh and we cry. They can immediately turn it off and carry on and the rest of us are like I’ve gotta calm down don’t look at me.
|Max is so funny he has me in fits.”
