EastEnders fans were completely gobsmacked this week when they spotted an obvious TV blunder as Stacey Fowler’s (Lacey Turner) daughter Lily (Lillia Turner) prepares for her second year of high school.

The Slater family have been through a rollercoaster of emotions over the last week after Jean (Gillian Wright) left Albert Square to start a fresh life in a caravan park where she found herself a job as a waitress at a local restaurant.

Luckily her loveable loud-mouthed daughter managed to convince her to return to Walford after much convincing by herself and her granddaughter Lily.

But BBC One viewers couldn’t help but be distracted during the emotional scenes after they were left confused about the preteen’s real age.

Loyal fans of the long-standing show will remember how the loud-mouthed character welcomed her eldest daughter Lily back in June 2010 which would make her character 12 years old.

But in recent months, BBC bosses have shown the youngster preparing for her second year of high school at Walford High which would typically see students aged between 14 and 15.

After watching the family breakdown this week, fans flooded to Twitter to share their confusion surrounding the new revelation on social media.

One user asked: “When did Lily become so old [cry laughing emoji] #eastenders” as another agreed: “Seeing Lily in secondary school makes me feel so old #EastEnders.”

A third chimed in with: “@bbceastenders Stacey is rude af. Bringing her kids when Lily is old enough to babysit? #EastEnders.”

Young actress Lillia took over the role of Lily Fowler from Aine Garvey back in September 2020 after she struck a chord with the telly bosses in her previous role on the London-based soap.

The up-and-coming actress previously played the small role of Alyssa on the show who was a member of a football team coached by Mick Carter and Mitch Baker back in 2019.

Since then, she has become a huge hit with the viewers at home and had even gone on to be entered into this year's nominations for Best Young Performer award alongside Tommy Moon star Sonny Kendall.

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday on BBC One at 7.30pm
