EastEnders fans have been left thinking that an iconic character is about to return to the square following Cindy Beale's dramatic return. Fans of the BBC show were left shocked last night as Cindy, played by Michelle Collins, came back to the show after dying off-screen 25 years ago.
Cindy is making a comeback alongside the legend that is Ian Beale. Cindy first made her debut on the show back in 1988, where she started dating Simon Wicks. That was before she started a relationship with Ian Beale, and then the pair married in 1989 before splitting in 1997.
In the new promotion photos released by the BBC, Cindy and Ian are standing next to each other as Cindy holds a wilted rose in her hand.
Fans flooded the comments with their thoughts on the huge soap comeback but some fans think that more of the show's famous characters should come back to the square.
One of those famous characters is Fatboy who is also known as Arthur, who is played by Ricky Norwood. And Ricky added to the speculation as he commented on the promo picture with a few fire emojis.
Fans quickly noticed the comment from the actor, and one replied saying: "You should have been brought back to EE." While another urged: "Bring back Fatboy!!!"
A third fan also replied: "Was not happy when you & Richard Blackwood left. I Loved your characters. Ever since I just flick at it. Not the same."
"Excuse me Fat Boy! Protest the BBC for your return. We want it so much" said another fan.
The speculation didn't end there as fans started discussing his return on the post. One fan discussed their theory saying: "You need to come back, Fatboy didn’t even have a funeral, so wouldn’t be surprised if he’s still alive lol."
Another fan added to the speculation saying: "We know you are still alive." Fatboy left the square in 2015 after six years in the role, and he died off-screen in a case of mistaken identity.
His departure from the show didn't go down well with fans, with some even setting up petitions for his return. However, last year the soap showed a crucial clue that he is still alive.
That clue came when the residents of Walford heard about the passing of Dot Cotton. Fatboy sent a sympathy card addressed to Dot to the square.The card simply read: "Mrs B – Forever in my heart. Arthur x."
Cindy Beale's return to the square is set to happen in Thursday's longer episode of EastEnders.
