EastEnders fans have speculated about the identity of Ravi Gulati’s mystery crime boss as he put his stay-out-of-prison plan into action.
In recent episodes of the popular BBC soap, Diane Parish’s Denise Fox scrambled to save her marriage to Scott Maslen’s Jack Branning after following Ravi, played by Aaron Thiara, to a hotel room for an affair.
While Denise saw the error of her ways and returned to Jack, the hairstylist was terrified that her detective boyfriend would work out her secret.
During Tuesday’s episode, Denise refused to tell Ravi about Jack’s investigation of him despite the former threatening to reveal her secret to the latter.
Instead, Denise called his bluff, but as a result, Ravi set his sights on Denise’s daughter, Chelsea Fox, played by Zaraah Abrahams since 2020.
Fans were left guessing in subsequent scenes as Ravi could be spotted having a secret phone call with an even more secret crime boss, though he also admitted to using Chelsea as his way to get close to the detective.
"Before you kick off again, I haven't found out what the DI knows yet but I will. Let's just say I have a new way in,” he said on the phone.
Social media sleuths have speculated on the identity of the caller while hoping their identity would shed some light on the situation.
On person suggested Max Bowden’s Ben Mitchell, or his dad, Steve McFadden’s Phil Mitchell, as they explained: "#EastEnders I'm intrigued to know who Ravi is working with? It sounds like someone who is dangerous and not to get on the wrong side of? It's either Phil Ben or someone new we haven't met yet. Given that Ravi killed Ranveer we know he's got a dark side."
"He has to be. Ben getting drunk during Callum’s moment of celebration makes me wonder even more. #EastEnders,” another viewer tweeted, as someone else added, "Interested to know who the guy working with Ravi is #EastEnders.”
Recent episodes of the hit soap have seen Shona McGarty’s Whitney Dean and her partner, Zack Hudson, played by James Farrar, grappled with the loss of their baby Peach after they were forced to terminate the pregnancy of a troubling diagnosis.
At the same time, Zack was fighting his own demons as he worked out the best way to tell his partner about his HIV diagnosis, which was revealed earlier this year when an old friend arrived.
On Zack’s HIV storyline, Executive producer Chris Clenshaw said: “EastEnders has never shied away from covering sensitive issues and Zack’s story is one of these.
"There are still so many myths and disinformation surrounding HIV, so working closely with Terrence Higgins Trust has enabled us to really understand what it is like for those that are diagnosed with HIV and we hope that this storyline will bring more awareness of HIV and what it is like to live with the virus in 2023.”
