Shona McGarty has debuted her new man a year after splitting from her EastEnders co-star Max Bowden.
The Whitney Dean actress has posted about her mystery boyfriend for a while, but fans have now finally been treated to a good look at him.
Taking to her Instagram Stories, Shona shared a black and white picture of the pair smiling and captioned the sweet snap: "Wedding time. My whole world @davidirishband.” David Bracken is an Irish musician who is one-half of guitar duo Blessed.
The band have over 18k followers on Instagram and play gigs all over their home country.
Her new-found happiness comes after the 31 year old split from Max, 27, who plays Ben Mitchell in the fan-favoutite BBC soap, in October last year. At the time, a source told The Sun that things were “just getting too complicated” and that the pair were never official.
“There has been a lot going on in Max’s life and things were just getting too complicated with Shona being involved," they said. “Max will always have a lot of love and respect for Shona but it’s just not the right time.
“Max and Shona have never spoken on it publicly but as their close circle would know, they were never in an official relationship and remain close friends who decided not to pursue anything romantic a number of months ago.”
However, there doesn’t seem to be any bad blood as she was ecstatic about seeing his mum at this year’s Soap Awards, telling The Mirror that they were “in a good place.”
She said: “It’s lovely to be here tonight because Max’s mum’s here and I haven’t seen her for ages, I adore her. So it’s lovely to catch up with her. We’re actually better than ever. It’s a friendship, we’re such in a good place.”
Despite being happy in her personal life, Shona recently announced that she would be leaving EastEnders after 15 years in Albert Square.
Talking to The Sun on Sunday, she revealedthat it was “time to spread my wings” as she moved on from the role.
She said: “I have decided to spread my wings and will be leaving EastEnders. I have loved my years in the show. I have been trusted with some incredible storylines and have made amazing friendships — and family — which will endure.”
A source told the publication that her decision "wasn't easy" but that the door was being left open, should she want to return, so viewers can rest easily knowing that Whitney won’t be killed off.
