Mick Carter (played by Danny Dyer) has been at the centre of a dramatic love triangle with Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) and his ex-wife Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) for over a year. Of all the people who could have influenced his actions, it may be the returning Alfie Moon (Shane Ritchie) who finally closes the chapter on this battle for Mick’s affection on EastEnders.

Official spoilers for the BBC soap show Linda accidentally mentions the news of Mick and Janine’s engagement to Shirley Carter (Linda Henry).

Mick’s mum is one of the last people he’d want a secret to be left with in Albert Square and she is not impressed.

Shirley is furious at the potential of him getting married to Janine and starts to plot with Linda on how they can change his mind.

The pair discuss what they can do to stop the marriage before its even begun.

Could this be Linda’s best chance to win back her ex-partner?

After all they have been through, Mick eventually goes down on one knee and proposes to Janine.

With Shirley on a mission, surely they will have a few hurdles ahead of any potential wedding.

Elsewhere, Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) aims to get Linda back on the romance trail by arranging a blind date for her.

Alfie also offers his wise words to Linda ahead of the date and their friendship continues to grow.

But, Linda’s mystery man fails to show up and Alfie is once again on hand to try to make things better.

However, his offer of a drink with Linda in the date’s place does not please the landlord Mick, who looks on in anger.

Meanwhile in Alfie’s own love-life Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) tells him how Kat (Jessie Wallace) is struggling to handle everything.

Jean asks Alfie to give Kat a hand, to which he duly agrees to and he and his ex-partner meet in the cafe.

During their meet, Kat asks Alfie to take care of the children while she is away.

He also offers to take over at the cab office in Kat’s absence too, which she agrees to.

However, Alfie’s mood plummets when a bitter Mick tells him not to worry about working at The Queen Vic anymore.

Mick uses a moment with Linda to reminisce about buying the pub and the pair are looking closer than they have for a long time.

Has Alfie’s friendship with her sparked a feeling for Mick to go back to Linda?

After he calms down from his previous dismissal of Alfie, Mick apologises to the former landlord of The Vic about letting him go.

In a little moment of revenge, Alfie plants a seed of doubt by asking whether Janine is the right woman for him, much to the annoyance of Mick.

But, with his head clearly turning towards Linda, will the patriarch of the Carter family go ahead with his proposal?
