Former EastEnders star Billy Murray has recounted an incident in which he claims his grandchildren were almost kidnapped by a gang.
The actor, who played hardened gangster Johnny Allen on the BBC soap between 2005 and 2006, took to social media to share a video explaining what had happened and warning people to be vigilant.
He recounted how his daughter and her partner were out on a walk with the two children, when partner Mick had to stop and take a phone call.
During this time, the mother and children were approached by a ‘black four-door Audi A6’, with five men inside.
‘A black Audi pulled up in front of her, blocking the way she was walking,’ Billy explained.
‘The driver got out, and she could see through the screen that there was a passenger and three other guys sat in the back.
He went on to explain how the driver approached her and struck up a conversation, but she became unnerved by the way he ‘kept looking at the children’.
‘She had this terrible fear all of a sudden come over her and she panicked, and she called out to Mick.’
According to Billy, Mick noticed that something was not right, as ‘the guys in the back and the passenger were getting out of the car to approach the children’.
‘They were going to kidnap my grandchildren,’ Billy revealed, ‘that’s what they assumed, anyway.’
He then recounted how Mick ‘yelled and screamed’ at the children to run before running over, which frightened off the men.
‘They all jumped in their car and squealed off, tyres burning, everything,’ he recalled.
He finished the video with a warning to ‘beware’, informing people that ‘they’re out there’.
‘There’s five guys in an Audi A6,’ he warned, before revealing that it had been reported to the police, but the family were told that nothing could be done as the men ‘never actually touched the children’.
He then urged people to pass on and share the video to encourage others to be vigilant.
