EMILY Blunt has candidly apologised for a hugely "insensitive" "fat-phobic" comment.
A clip from ITV's The Jonathan Ross Show – originally aired back in 2012 – has re-surfaced online, capturing the Oppenheimer actress referring to a waitress as "enormous."
Emily, 40, starred on the show to promote her movie Looper.
After the clip sparked a fresh flurry of online comments, Emily has now commented on her "hurtful" remarks.
She told People Magazine: "I just need to address this head on as my jaw was on the floor watching this clip from 12-years ago.
"I’m appalled that I would say something so insensitive, hurtful, and unrelated to whatever story I was trying to tell on a talk show.

Moment Emily Blunt & co-stars walk out of UK premiere as actors strike
How old is Emily Blunt and who is her husband John Krasinski?
"I’ve always considered myself someone who wouldn’t dream of upsetting anyone so whatever possessed me to say anything like this in that moment is unrecognizable to me or anything I stand for.
"And yet it happened, and I said it and I’m so sorry for any hurt caused.
"I was absolutely old enough to know better."
It came during a discussion about an American restaurant during a segment of host Jonathan's show.

Although the British actress has starred in a lot of films over the years, she is most famously known for her roles in Edge of Tomorrow, The Devil Wears Prada, The Adjustment Bureau, and A Quiet Place.
In 2016, she told Variety that her career instantly changed after her role in The Devil Wears Prada and that's when her career really started to take off.
"It was a night and day change," she said. “The day the movie came out, all the people in the bakery suddenly knew who I was. It was surreal.”
“It’s not like people say, ‘Oh, my gosh, are you Emily Blunt?’ ” she continued. “It’s more like, ‘Are you the girl in The Devil Wears Prada?’ I’m defined by it. And that’s okay.”
While fellow actress Scarlett Johanson got the role as Natasha Romanoff, better known as Black Widow, it was originally supposed to go to Emily.
“I was contracted to do Gulliver’s Travels. I didn’t want to do Gulliver’s Travels,” she told Howard Stern.
“It was a bit of a heartbreaker for me,” she continued.
