Next week will be an utterly heartbreaking one in soapland, as one of the genre’s finest dies in devastating scenes.
We are of course referring to Emmerdale’s Faith Dingle, who dies after one very special day with her family, courtesy of Cain.
Coronation Street, meanwhile, sees a horror fire put the life of Aaron’s dad Eric in danger, leaving the teen determined to be there for his father in his hour of need.
Over in EastEnders, Suki Panesar and Eve Unwin give into temptation, while Hollyoaks sees Imran Maalik suffer a nasty injury, which results in shocking scenes.
It’s going to be quite a week down soapland way, so stock up on the tissues before Monday!
In the meantime, Metro.co.uk once again has everything you need to know about what’s coming up, so kickstart your weekend with a not-so-little preview.
Coronation Street
1. Bridget and Eliza are enjoying brunch with Yasmeen and Stu. Eliza asks Stu about life in prison and it becomes too much for Bridget, who runs out to the garden in tears. Stu follows her out, hoping to comfort her as he talks about how angry he was over being in jail for a crime he did not commit, but he receives a shock when Bridget makes a huge revelation.
2. Aaron receives texts from his dad Eric, but he ignores them on Summer ‘s advice. The police subsequently turn up, revealing that Eric has been involved in a house fire. Aaron heads to the hospital, where Eric wishes he hadn’t survived, leaving Aaron feeling guilty, so he resolves to focus on his dad from here on out.
3. David and Shona are disappointed when Mrs Crawshaw informs them that Max cannot return to Weatherfield High, as there are no places available. Max is devastated when he finds out that Daryan is starting at Weatherfield High and accuses him of stealing his place.
4. Michael queries how long Dee-Dee is planning on staying at No.3, and Ed agrees that it would be good to know her plans. Dee-Dee, however, is left feeling unwanted and thus flounces out, leaving Aggie fuming. Dee-Dee confesses to her parents that she’s been lonely in LA and doesn’t intend to go back.
5. Maria’s unsettled by the disparaging comments under an online article about her rehoming of refugees.
6. Sally and Tim enjoy a laugh before indulging in a passionate kiss and have sex for the first time in months. Afterwards, they head over to the Bistro where Ed asks them to share their table.
7. Aggie is left feeling awkward when Sally admires her necklace, unaware Tim bought it for her. Seeing that Aggie is puzzled by his and Sally’s flirtatious behaviour he sends her a text – but is horrified to realise he sent it to Sally!
EastEnders
8. Alfie makes a grand gesture to win back Kat, but he soon has other things on his plate when a woman enters the pub to remind him that he’s getting married! Alfie explains to Kat the the young woman, Megan, is not his fiancée, and offers to bring Kat to meet his real fiancée.
9. Suki takes a business meeting with Harpeet, who asks about working with Ranveer, leaving her overwhelmed. Eve notices Suki’s distress and sneaks away to comfort her. Afterwards, Suki is empowered and charms Harpeet into doing business with her.
10. Eve and Suki subsequently share a charged moment – and a kiss. Following scenes will see the pair give into temptation at home.
11. Vinny is shocked to be told that Nish will still be leaving prison today, and subsequent scenes see Nish arrive in the Square, which sends him into a panic.
12. Amy and Denzel have bunked off of school to be together and are mortified when Chelsea catches them. Amy pleads for Chelsea not to tell Jack, who has arrived home early. Chelsea covers for Amy as Denzel makes a secret exit, but Jack is quick to spot something is awry.
13. Patrick gives Denzel the idea to get Amy a gift. Deciding on phone case with a personal touch, he uses it as an opportunity to tell Amy that he’d very much like to be exclusive. The pair are then interrupted by Nugget, Lily and Tommy who mock Amy when she reveals she is with Denzel.
14. Jack suggests that Chelsea rents the rooms in her home and Denise is irked by their closeness.
Emmerdale
15. Faith plans a family day at the seaside, but when her health takes a turn, Cain devises a solution, bringing the seaside to her! Faith is thrilled, taking everything in, watching her family revel in the fun. Diane arrives out of the blue, much to Faith’s delight. Cain asks his mum to dance, and the two share a heartfelt moment. Faith is overjoyed with how her perfect day panned out, as she holds a snapshot of her family close to her heart.
16. Faith says veiled goodbyes to her loved ones, before heading to her bedroom where, alone, she intends to end her life. Cain, realising what Faith has done, tries to keep her comfortable as she drifts closer to death. He’s soon heartbroken to discover that his mum has died.
17. Al does his best to cheer Chas up as she worries about Faith, revealing that he’s bought them a house. Chas is unaware of the tragic events occurring at home, as he switches off her phone – and she misses calls from Paddy.
18. Tracy is thrown to see Nate and Naomi together and informs Vanessa that she’s going to tell Nate about her engagement. When she sets off to do so, however, she and Nate share a changed moment – and one thing leads to another.
19. Will plays down a previous declaration to Harriet, but the two share an intense moment, leaving Harriet certain that Will still has got feelings for her. The former vicar resolves to stay away from the wedding, but when Will finds out he decides to track her down. Kim, meanwhile, knows something is afoot and finds the pair at the scrapyard, where Harriet confesses her undying love to Will!
20. Charles is devastated when he finds out that someone has complained about him to the bishop, knowing full well Nicola is to blame. Nicola, meanwhile, is delighted that the bishop believed her claims, but she is given food for thought when Laurel tell her that the village could lose a genuinely good vicar due to her actions.
Hollyoaks
21. Eric struggles to keep his extreme views in check on a date with Maxine, who suggests that they remain friends – prompting him to bite back. Maxine is embarrassed after accusing Eric of leaving her a horrific note, and thus she drowns her sorrows, but on her way home she falls and drifts in and out of consciousness, catching the attention of a passer-by. She wakes up to find an awful slur written on her forehead in lipstick, and is left fearing the worst.
22. Mason jumps to Eric’s defence when Maxine makes an accusation, providing him with an alibi. Afterwards, he is glued to the Men’s online forum. Maxine playfully takes his phone, but a shocking outburst from Mason leads her to realise there is more to the teen’s mood than meets the eye. Mason subsequently makes a choice, one which leaves Eric seething.
23. Imran’s eating disorder results in him suffering a scalding injury – one which he decides to keep shtum about. He later bunks off work in favour of exercise at the gym, and subsequently embarks on a cooking challenge for a food critic with Tony, but his wound is infected, which leads to him collapsing.
24. Tony and Darren brainstorm new ideas to commemorate Luke.
25. A peace offering from Olivia to Prince doesn’t sit right with Goldie and she decides to pay her a visit, but will her meddling in her son’s relationship go too far?
