Emmerdale viewers struggled as they watched distressing scenes during the latest episode, as young adult Jacob Gallagher (played by Joe-Warren Plant) suffered from a severe nut allergy.
But in a terrifying storyline twist, Victoria Barton was accidentally to blame after making a near-fatal mistake in the restaurant on Monday night, 18 September.
The chef was doing her best to cook and create a satisfying spread for Gaby's potential new clients, but couldn't keep up with the increasing work-load.
As a result, she made a rushed sauce for one of the dishes with an ingredient that had nut oil in it.
Jacob then checked if the item was safe to eat, and after getting the go-ahead from Victoria, it wasn't long before he was choking.
After an alarming scene saw Jacob's mum Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi) sobbing and trying to help her son, Victoria jumped into action and raced to the car to get the suffering character's second EpiPen, which injects treatment immediately.
But it wasn't enough to make Leyla forgive her once she found out the truth.
"If he'd been by himself he wouldn't have made it to the car in time, I just felt so useless you know," Leyla shared to David at the hospital, while Jacob was being kept in for observation.
"I'm sorry, I can't believe that we nearly lost him again. That we're in here, again. As everything was getting back on track you know," Leyla shared through her tears, but that worry quickly turned to anger once Victoria arrived.
"Thank you for everything you did today, you practically saved his life," the wedding planner thanked her at first.
"No it was my fault," a guilty Victoria said. "I ran out of sauce and I had to make another batch and one of the ingredients I used had nut oil in it. I was in a rush and I said it was safe for him to eat."
"Have you got any idea what you put us through?" a fuming Leyla spat, as Victoria said she was "sorry" and things had simply got on top of her at the event.
"You nearly killed him and you couldn't handle work pressure, that's your excuse?" Leyla continued.
"You nearly killed my son, I cannot deal with you right now, get out of my sight," the angry mum raged.
Horrified by the upsetting scenes and Victoria's scary mistake, fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts.
One person exclaimed with broken heart emojis: "Oh my god hopefully Jacob pulls through #Emmerdale"
Another cried: "OMG JACOB!?? #Emmerdale"
While a third posted: "I bet Victoria is gonna get in A LOT of trouble now… #Emmerdale."
Others were left puzzled as they couldn't remember Jake having a nut allergy as they tried to cast their minds back to learning this important fact.
