Emmerdale fans have been left stunned after discovering Sam Dingle star James Hooton's age.
The legendary soap actor celebrated a huge milestone birthday on Thursday 13 July as he turned 50, celebrating with his family.
Taking to Twitter, James posted a picture of himself and penned: "50 not out today! Finished work early, got a lovely Colin cake from @karenblick @nancylucas1978 and the fam have given me some lovely pressies and are all about for a fun day in the sun. Feeling blessed!"
James' 29.1K followers and Emmerdale fans were quick to share their birthday congratulations with one writing: "Ooh I can’t wait to reach that ripe ole age! Ya looking good fella. Have a bless day. x."
A different account put: "Congrats on reaching the fabulous 5-0! Sounds like you've got the perfect recipe for a memorable day – work break, a delightful Colin cake, and a loving fam showering you with wonderful presents. Enjoy the sunshine and cherish these precious moments! #FeelingBlessed."
While another follower wrote: "Happy birthday hope you have a fantastic day."
James has been a staple on Emmerdale, and the Dingle family, as Sam Dingle since 1995.
Last year, James was part of the ITV soap's explosive 50th anniversary storylines as a deadly storm hit the village and Sam was involved in a graphic tractor spiking accident.
During the episodes, fans were left horrified over Sam's lifeless body on a tractor spike after attempting to escape a cow stampede.
During the gruesome scenes, the village continued to struggle with the terrifying storm and winds, especially over at Moira Dingle's farm.
As the storm started to destroy the farm, Sam and Nate Robinson were left worried about the animals, especially the cows as the pen was rattling loose.
And true to their worries, it wasn't long until the cows were able to escape as they caused a terrifying stampede with Sam and Nate having to sprint for their lives.
Sam was able to jump over the hay bales to escape the cows while Nate was brutally trampled by the cattle before getting back up.
However, viewers were left horrified as the ITV soap revealed a chilling twist at the end of the episode as it showed Sam's body lifeless on a tractor spike after his jump to escape went wrong.
Thankfully, Sam was able to be rescued and rushed to hospital – he has since made a full recovery.
