Rishi Sharma’s (Bhasker Patel) death shocked everyone in Emmerdale and understandably, his close family and friends are struggling to come to terms with the news.
The beloved character died last week on Jai (Chris Bisson) and Laurel’s (Charlotte Bellamy) wedding day. Rishi was planning on attending his son’s wedding despite the recent relationship challenges, which saw Jai discover that Rishi’s brother is his real dad.
Rishi never got to the church and during the reception in the pub, it was clear that Jai was missing him dearly.
It was Jai’s mum, Georgia (Lin Blakley), who helped her son accept that Rishi never kept the secret to make his life worse, he kept the adoption hidden and dealt with shame from the family over Georgia having an affair just so Jai didn’t have to.
As the village residents raised a glass in the pub, Rishi was seen dead at the bottom of the stairs.

The aftermath of the discovery has seen Jai begin to organise Rishi’s funeral in India, and confirm that he doesn’t want to tell his siblings about the adoption.
In Wednesday’s (August 2) edition of the ITV soap, the focus was on memories of the past.
When Tom (James Chase) popped by to see Jai and Laurel, he confirmed that Rishi had asked him to put some photos on a memory stick for the family.
Tom – who had been living with Rishi – handed over the device and later that day, Jai, Laurel, Archie and Gabby (Rosie Bentham) sat down to view the creation.
As emotional music played over the top, the family saw pictures of Rishi alongside the likes of Jai and Priya (Fiona Wade).
Laurel, Archie and Gabby smiled as they viewed the montage and left Jai to absorb it in his own way, with tears gently falling down his face as he saw his dad’s face once more.
