Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) is determined to walk down the aisle in Emmerdale as he marries love of his life Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry), and despite a rocky start to the big day, he gets his wish.
The popular character, who suffered a life-changing stroke earlier this year, has been excited about the prospect of starting a new life with Rhona, as they prepare to tie the knot.
He’s made it his mission to walk towards his fiancee during the service, and next week, he pushes himself hard, as he tries to get to his feet during his impromptu stag do.
His legs, however, suddenly buckle underneath him, and he falls to the ground. Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt), who is present for the accident, tries to convince him to get checked out at the hospital.
Marlon agrees, but only on the conditions that there is no ambulance, and that Rhona is kept out of the loop.
Things take yet another devastating turn at the hospital, as Marlon is devastated to learn that he’ll have to stay in overnight, as his results have shown that he’s got extremely high blood pressure.
The morning of the wedding arrives, and Rhona remains in the dark, as she gets ready to marry her soulmate.
Marlon, meanwhile, receives more bad news, as he’s told that his blood pressure readings are still too high for him to be discharged.
Paddy does his utmost to keep Marlon calm, but they’re both struggling to maintain their cool, stressed out by the whole situation.
Mary (Louise Jameson) and Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) do everything in their power to delay Rhona from arriving at the church, but their plans are ultimately thwarted, as Rhona knows something is not right.
She concludes that something is wrong with Marlon, but before she can do anything about her theory, Paddy arrives at the church with Marlon in tow in a wheelchair, both dressed in their suits and ready for the wedding!
Pictures reveal the emotional moment which subsequently takes place, as Marlon gets to his feet and walks towards Rhona.
No, you’re crying.
The pair subsequently exchange vows, excited for their new chapter as husband and wife.
Emmerdale airs these scenes w/c Monday August 8 at 7:30pm on ITV.
