It would split most soap couples to have one of the pairing jailed for a murder he took the blame for to protect his son, but Emmerdale star Natalie J Robb has declared her relief that Moira and husband Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) came through the ordeal.
It was a situation ripe with angst, and with Moira and Cain having split before, it might have been the obvious route for the soap to take again.
In a recent chat with Metro.co.uk, however, Natalie is glad that the characters have been able to ‘show more of a strength.
‘It’s easy for people to just go off and have affairs and do all that, but I think they’ve been through all the things with Kyle and everything they went through in prison, it was apparent that she was absolutely going to wait for him and be by his side and make it work one way or another,’ she told Metro.co.uk.
‘Even though she might have had her doubts at some times, she has a wobble and then she really commits to the fact that this is it, this is the way its going to be. So, I think it shows a real strength in their marriage actually.’
It’s certainly something that fans were all for, with the pairing – affectionately dubbed Coira – having a huge following.
So viewers will be relieved to hear that, for now, the family might be heading for less choppy waters.
‘Hopefully there are more stable times where Kyle’s concerned, but there’ll be something else that happens,’ Natalie mused.
‘It might not necessarily be Kyle but there’ll always be something that happens within the Dingle family!
‘But at the moment, I think it’s going to be stable for a little while.’
That’s all well and good for the family – but that doesn’t mean Moira will be drama free.
With Charity (Emma Atkins) set to be left unimpressed by Moira quizzing her brother Mack (Lawrence Robb) over whether he can cope with not having kids, Natalie is not ruling out a big clash for the frenemies – ‘The stage is always set with those two!’
As the wedding approaches, it’s clear that Moira will play a part in proceedings – and Natalie has enjoyed filming the scenes which will hit our screens in coming weeks.
‘It’s been good fun shooting it and everything else – I think Moira’s going to be in the mix of things,’ the actress smiled.
‘I do think that Charity’s going to keep thinking that Moira’s trying to sabotage things, but that’s really not the case at all.
‘Charity’s very sensitive about everything, and it’s during all the lead up to the wedding where Moira can see that she actually really does genuinely love her brother.
‘But, the way that Charity conveys that is another story, where she just gets very sensitive about things and they’re obviously having arguments all over the place, and misunderstandings.
‘It’s like a jigsaw puzzle that might not get fixed, put it that way.’
