It’s going to be no surprise to Emmerdale fans to know that there will be fireworks between Moira and Charity Dingle – and, as Natalie J Robb confirms a clash, we couldn’t be more delighted.
Promising another stand-off, the actress told Metro.co.uk that Moira will play a part in the drama of Charity’s (Emma Atkins) wedding to Mack Boyd (Lawrence Robb).
With it already being promised that the big day will be packed with drama, the run-up sees Moira’s interference rub Charity up the wrong way.
In an interview with us, Natalie explained how Moira’s discussion with Mack about whether he wants children comes from a good place – but it’s not going to go down well with the bride to be.
‘Mack’s her brother and she knows that in the past, when Charity did get pregnant, he was really happy about it,’ the actress mused.
‘And then when it didn’t happen, he just feels like he still had that longing to be a dad. And I think it’s something that he really wants. That’s why she senses it, because she feels like he’s not telling her everything.
‘And then Moira just really wants to make sure that he’s making the right decision because she thinks it’s a huge sacrifice really.’
While Mack makes it clear that she has it wrong, it doesn’t stop Moira having another go, which upsets Charity when she hears about it.
‘Moira pushes it enough for him to have a think about it, and to make him question it.
‘But when she realises that he’s adamant on it and he’s alright with it, he tells her that and she just drops it after that. She doesn’t push it too much.’
But the damage may be done – with Moira and Charity never far from a showdown, could there be another Glasgow kiss ahead?
‘The stage is always set with those two!’ Natalie smiled. ‘Nah, hopefully not. Hopefully it will be not as violent as that next time, but I think there’s always room for disagreements with Moira and Charity.
‘They’re both very strong characters and they clash at times. But this is more about the fact that this is her brother, he’s family and she just wants to make sure he’s making the right decision in case it’s too late.
‘Because at the end of the day, it would only end up being an unhappiness with him and Charity if that was the case.
‘She just wants to make sure that he’s making the right decision before he moves forward and makes the decision of marrying her. I think it’s a big deal.’
Moira could be onto something, as this is a wedding that is going to spiral into disaster.
Whether or not Mack and Charity make it to man and wife remains to be seen, but Natalie teased big episodes ahead.
‘It’s been good fun shooting it and everything else, but I think Moira’s going to be in the mix of things.’ she said.
‘But, I think that Charity’s going to keep thinking that Moira’s trying to sabotage things, but that’s really not the case at all – there’s times where Moira can see that she actually really does genuinely love her brother.
‘But, the way that Charity conveys that is another story, where she just gets very sensitive about things and they’re obviously having arguments all over the place, and misunderstandings.
‘It’s like a jigsaw puzzle that might not get fixed, put it that way.’
All the while that Moira has contemplated whether her brother might be giving up a dream of being a dad, little does she know that Chloe Harris (Jessie Elland) is expecting his baby.
But when Moira discovers the truth, Natalie knows whose side she would take – and it might come as a surprise.
‘When it does get revealed, I think that’s something that Moira would think is just really crossing a line,’ the star declared.
‘I think she’d be really disappointed in Mackenzie actually, because of that. Because the circumstances were, at the time that he went and did that, was when she said go off and do it, when he and Charity had an argument that one night. So it could have been something that he could have told her the truth about.
‘But it’s the fact that she stays with him and lives with him, its all a bit eek and a bit too close to home, obviously. So, I don’t think she’d react very well.
‘I think she’d be more inclined to be on Charity’s side than Mackenzie’s. Not that it’s about sides, but I think she’d definitely be disappointed in how he’s gone about it.’
From the sounds of it, it won’t be long until Moira does find out and we can see how she will react ourselves.
Brace yourselves – it’s bound to be a wedding to remember!
