As the latest batch of celebrities prepare to enter the Australian jungle, former contestant Danny Miller spoke about how he felt when he was crowned winner last year. The I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! contestant explained he “hated” his exit as he went from being isolated to one of the most in-demand stars of the show.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain, the Emmerdale star told Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard it took a while to decompress from the experience.

Danny admitted: “I hated the feeling after it, of just being completely isolated to then being like, ‘Here’s a load of responsibilities and here’s your phone back.’”

“Oh interesting,” Ben replied. “So the decompression on the way out was quite hard to get your head around?”

Danny explained: “Yeah, I really struggled with it. It was hard, you didn’t have to worry about anything because you didn’t have a phone so you had no stresses, no worries, no anxieties.

“Then suddenly you’re out and someone goes, ‘Oh well done for winning, there’s your phone back.’

“There’s still messages I haven’t read because it was so, all of my mates I haven’t spoke to in years, and it was quite overwhelming.

“It took me a while to go, ‘Actually I want to go back in and do it all again.’”

Looking ahead to the new series, Kate asked: “What do you think of the ones that we know so far then?

“For instance, the one that’s got everyone talking is Matt Hancock, the former Health Secretary.

“How do you think he will fare with the trials and the challenges and with people watching?”

Danny answered: “I think he needs to just accept the fact that he is going to be everyone’s toy.

“You know, last year Naughty Boy got it because he was the first one and it was very entertaining and everyone went, ‘Naughty Boy, Naughty Boy, Naughty Boy.’

“This year, I think regardless of how entertaining he is, he needs to accept that what he’s put us through, the public are going to say, ‘This is what we’re going to put you through.’

“And then when they’re done with him they’ll just get rid of him.”

Ben asked: “Who is your favourite then? Who do you think has their eye on the crown?”

“I’d like to think Sue Cleaver, Jill Scott and Boy George, they’re my prediction for the final three,” Danny said.

“I’ve met Jill a few times she’s lovely. But also the thing is, we don’t know the other two going in.

“Well, we know one but forget him but it’s the other person we’ve not yet found out who it is and I’ve heard certain things about who it might be.”

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! returns Sunday on ITV.
