Cain Dingle is enduring the trauma of losing mum Faith (Sally Dexter), which is driving him close to the edge due to their complex relationship – but there is more drama ahead for the bad boy character.
Emmerdale star Jeff Hordley has teased that there is a further big storyline ahead for Cain, as the 50th anniversary of the popular soap approaches.
‘I do know that after this there’s something else coming that’s pretty big,’ he hinted, piquing all of our attentions.
‘But I can’t tell you – I’ll lose my job!’
Oh. Well, no-one wants that to be fair.
Before that happens, Cain will go through ‘life-changing’ events as Faith is on borrowed time.
Tonight, Faith will make the decision to end her treatment and tells her family that she just wants to make the most of the time that she has left.
But what does that mean for those left behind?
‘When you lose a parent, it can be life-changing, so it’ll be interesting to see what the after-effects are,’ he continued in an interview with TV Times.
Addressing an Emmerdale special coming up which sees Cain reflect on Faith’s diagnosis with his sister Chas (Lucy Pargeter), Jeff promised that this will be the ‘most emotional’ viewers will have seen his alter-ego.
‘The episode starts with the sun setting and ends on it rising the next day, he can’t deal with Faith leaving again, but that’s what he now has to face, the star explained.

‘It’s the most emotional I’ve ever been as Cain. I didn’t plan it; it all just came out.’
So could there be hope for the relationship between Cain and Faith before the tragic end?
Things have always been turbulent, to say the least.
Jeff said: ‘They come close to some sort of reconciliation this week and I’m hoping there’ll be more.’
