Emmerdale’s Kim Tate (played by Claire King) and Harriet Finch (Katherine Dow Blyton) have been left for dead following an explosive end to the ITV soap’s 50th-anniversary special. Fans watched on in horror as a lightning bolt struck Harriet’s quad bike during a ferocious storm as she and Kim were deep in the woods. The pair were both blown back in an explosion and it appears as though at least one of them might not make it out alive.
The women, who are both in love with Kim’s partner Will Taylor (Dean Andrews), put their feud aside to search for Amelia Spencer (Daisy Campbell) who had gone into labour in a barn.
The storm worsened after Kim and Will tied the knot and the businesswoman hopped on her horse to search for his pregnant teenage daughter Amelia.
Harriet also went to search for the youngster but she lost control and crashed into a tree before falling down an embankment.
The police officer screamed out in absolute terror when the bike tumbled down on her and crushed her.
Kim later arrived on the scene and managed to pull Harriet from beneath the wreckage, but the pair were left in a bad way when the bike’s fuel tank exploded.
Claire, who portrays Kim, teased Express.co.uk and other publications Harriet could die in upcoming scenes which could leave Will devastated.
She shared: “Will is not going to be too happy as they have this bit of an ‘I love you’ thing going on.
“Kim does suspect that obviously there is something going on between Harriet and Will.
“I think Will could possibly blame Kim for whatever happens to Harriet.”
Could Will jump to the conclusion that Kim killed Harriet in the woods in a jealous rage?
Will Kim be able to say anything which will convince her husband she tried to save Harriet’s life, rather than end it?
Harriet declared her love for Will ahead of his and Kim’s lavish wedding, which might not have been the wisest of ideas.
After a vicious row, Harriet told Kim she would not interfere anymore with their relationship but was she telling the truth?
Reflecting on filming the scenes where Harriet and Kim were injured, Claire explained: “It was actually a very hot day, and it’s supposed to be October, and I had all these layers on and clothes and yes it was rather sweaty.
She revealed: “I was on antibiotics for about a week because my nose and my eyes swelled up.
“I blew my nose after I had finished my course and a great big seed pod came out and got infected in my nose and it must have blown up there due to all those wind machines.”
“It was somewhat traumatic but we did manage to have a bit of a laugh, Katherine Dow Blyton and I,” Claire added.
Many villagers’ lives have been impacted by the windstorm which struck over the weekend – could Harriet be the only fatality?
Claire quipped: “Never mind the end for Kim, it nearly finished me off, being thrown around woods in all that dirt, I am too old for that.”
Emmerdale airs on weeknights from 7.30pm on ITV.
