It’s been quite a while since the name Scott Windsor was brought up in the Dales, which is why Emmerdale fans are convinced a mention in Wednesday night’s episode could possibly signify a return for the character sometime soon.
ITV viewers saw siblings Cathy (played by Gabrielle Dowling) and Heath Hope (Sebastian Dowling) talking about their brother, Scott (Ben Freeman), who was last seen on the show in 2007.
Brenda (Lesley Dunlop) told Cathy after she finishes her exams, she can go and stay with her brother for a while, which she seemed excited about.
But given Scott’s name hasn’t been mentioned for years now, fans were quick to take to social media to share their theories on whether he could return.
One fan took to Twitter to say: “The Scott reference…could he come back with Jean?”
Another added: “There was a Scott mention omg !!” while a third said: “Bound to be bringing him back now then.”
Scott’s last appearance on the soap saw him leave the village to stay in London with an old friend from the army.
Fans then heard him call his mum Viv (Deena Payne) to say he would not be coming back and to put his house up for sale.
But in terms of what the character has been up to in the meantime, there haven’t been any clues, up until now.

Ben, who played Scott, from 1998 to 2007, did have a short stint on another soap, as he briefly played villain Caleb Malone in Eastenders.
This mention of Scott also comes as Emmerdale Executive Producer Jane Hudson teased a summer return for a much-loved character.
Jane revealed: “You all know we love a summer wedding, I can tell you there is at least one more wedding coming up before the end of the summer,.
“We will have a familiar face returning by the end of the summer which I think fans are gonna be absolutely delighted with, as they return to the show.”
Fans know that Cathy is set to leave Emmerdale next week, with her reassuring her dad Bob (Tony Audenshaw) that he’s doing the right thing by letting her go.
So, could Cathy return later this year along with her older brother?
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
