Four in a Bed: Contestant Rob disappointed with underpayment
After an eventful week, it was time for the four B&B owners to come together for one last time to discuss the feedback they received and find out how their hotel performed. Four in a Bed owner Rob of Wolds Wine Estate in Nottinghamshire was third to host and left his guests underwhelmed with his “luxury” pods. When finding out how much they had paid, he admitted it was “upsetting” to receive an underpayment of £70 in total.
When they first arrived at his “luxury” pod park, the guests were blown away with the views and the modern feel of the pods.
However, when they began to look around the place they would be staying the night, Yanna and Emily were concerned there was no soap left in their bathroom, along with any shampoo or body wash.
Karlie also took issue with the weak Wi-Fi connection that Rob had supplied, despite being in the middle of a vineyard.
When looking back through his feedback, Rob felt he had been “harshly” marked down and took pride in his holiday homes.
Sitting down with the other guests, Rob was curious to know why he had been harshly marked on cleanliness by Charlotte and Donna.
Donna, who is the cleaner at Room at the Inn alongside Charlotte, explained there was limescale in the kettle and marks on the outside, claiming a “once over” wouldn’t hurt.
When it came down to finding out how much they paid, Emily and Yanna were up first who stayed in a pod which cost £211.50 and an additional £26 for breakfast.
The pair paid £191.50 which was an underpayment of £20 and explained the shower and bathroom not having any hygiene materials was a big point for them.
Charlotte and Donna stayed in a room which cost £200.95 and £15.95 for breakfast, but only paid £117.95, which was an underpayment of £30.
They expressed they felt the cleaning could have been a bit more thorough considering the price which they would have to pay to stay in the pod.
Karlie was last whose pod cost £174.80 plus £4.80 for her breakfast, and she paid £154.80 which was an underpayment of £20.
She expressed if Rob had sorted the Wi-Fi connection and tied in his vineyard decoration with the pods she would have scored him higher.
Overall, Rob was left with a total underpayment of £70 and explained he felt “upset” over all three groups underpaying.

“We offer really good value for money. It’s a bit upsetting that they would underpay me by £20. I do still stand by the prices.
“The larger pods will fit four people comfortably, that works out at less than £50 per person, so I think it’s actually a really reasonable rate and you get a really comfy stay.
“I feel like they haven’t fairly judged me. I’m very surprised that everyone underpaid and, you know, but it’s sad for myself.
“And the family for the effort we’ve put in and people didn’t recognise that,” he said.
Four in a Bed airs weekdays from 5pm on Channel 4.
