EXCLUSIVE: With their highly-anticipated action-romcom, Ghosted, bowing next month, Skydance and director Dexter Fletcher look to have already found their next project as the studio has closed a deal with Dexter Fletcher to direct the upcoming feature project Fountain of Youth written by James Vanderbilt. Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger will produce along with Tripp Vinson, Project X Entertainment’s James Vanderbilt, William Sherak, Paul Neinstein. Radio Silence (Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett and Chad Villella) and Dalia Ibelhauptaitė will serve as executive producer. Matt Grimm will oversee the project for Skydance.

As of right now exact plot details are being kept under wraps except that it will revolve around the mythical place where if you drink from it you live forever. The film reunites Fletcher with Skydance after recently directing the upcoming romantic-action film Ghosted which stars Chris Evans and Ana de Armas and premieres on Apple TV+ April 21, 2023. The films trailer dropped earlier this week and instantly became a top trending topic on social media building anticipation for the film.
Fletcher is best known for directing the Academy Award-winning Elton John musical Rocketman. In 2018, Fletcher took over directing duties on the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, which went on to win four Oscars including Best Actor for Rami Malek. Previously, Fletcher also directed Eddie the Eagle released in 2016 and the 2013 musical Sunshine On Leith. Fletcher is represented by CAA.
Writer and Producer James Vanderbilt will see multiple high-profile projects set for release in March with the anticipated sequel Scream 6 he co-wrote, another project follow up he penned in Netflix’s Murder Mystery 2, and the first series produced with his Project X Entertainment partners in Netflix’s The Night Agent. Vanderbilt’s past writing credits include genre-spanning films such as Zodiac, The Amazing Spider-Man, Murder Mystery and Scream (2022). He is represented by WME.
Coming off the hugely successful Top Gun: Maverick, Skydance’s upcoming live-action film slate includes the seventh and eighth installments of the wildly popular Mission: Impossible series, along with Ghosted, The Family Plan, The Gorge for Apple TV+ and The Old Guard 2, Heart of Stone, and a reimagining of the successful 2001 Spy Kids franchise for Netflix.
