Anton & Giovanni’s Adventures in Sicily trailer
Giovanni Pernice admitted it “gets lonely” as he opened up to Anton Du Beke about his hopes of one day starting a family. The pair have been travelling around the Strictly Come Dancing star’s country in Adventures in Sicily and in the latest episode they candidly touched on their hopes for the future.
Giovanni, 32, revealed his mother is hoping he will have a baby before “she passes away”.
Sitting around a camp fire and tucking into a delicious meal, he shared: “One day I will cook for my family.
“Once you get a family, you will be doing it all the time,” Anton reassured his friend.
Giovanni went on to admit: “My mum always says to me ‘So, Giovanni, what’s the situation?’ because obviously every time I date a girl, I always tell her and say ‘What do you think about this?’
“Bless her, she’s seen so many passing by. But initially, she’s like ‘Is she the one? You know, I want a baby before I pass way!’
“It’s all the time, constantly, it’s funny. Of course I’ll have a family one day, you just have to find the right person first.
“Personally, I am just very focused on my career as you were at my age.”
Giovanni then admitted “it does get lonely sometimes” as he explained: “It’s a tricky thing between – there’s a line, a fine line, between:’I want to be in a relationship and be with somebody because you get lonely.’
“But at the same time, you want to be free to be able to focus on your career. And also, this industry, quite tricky, as you know, because you always have to be focused.”
Giovanni previously opened up to Express.co.uk about getting teary-eyed while he opened up to Anton about his hopes of becoming a father.
He said: “We get to open up and talk about, well in my case, what I want from the future and Anton asked, ‘Do you want to be a dad one day?’
“And it was really the first time I ever opened up about it. I haven’t even talked to my own dad about it.

“When I saw for the first time my dad meeting Anton du Beke, my dad is the biggest fan of Anton du Beke.
“When I saw the friend I admire and my dad being together it was beautiful. Very happy to shed tears of joy.”
The Strictly star shared Anton is now part of his family and it was “so nice” to share the travel series with him.
“Anton has always been my family away from home, so combining my real family and my family away from home which is Anton, it was beautiful,” Giovanni remarked.
