Good Morning Britain star Kate Garraway was not impressed after her co-star Ben Shepherd took a savage swipe about her “smell.”

The hit ITV show returned for another instalment on Friday (September 22) with Kate and Ben back at the helm. But things took a rather awkward turn when Ben made a savage comment about Kate smelling like “cheese and onion..”

The two hosts were joined by Andi Peters to give viewers a rundown of the latest eye-popping cash prize. Andi had just returned from a trip to Ireland – and brought his GMB team some of the country’s iconic crisps.

Despite the early morning, the gang got stuck in. However, later on it seemed the smell was getting a bit too much for Ben.

He said: “There’s a smell of cheese and onion coming from Kate as well.” Looking stunned, Kate replied: “I’m so sorry, that’s the crisps.”

Ben added: “Yeah right,” which didn’t seem to go down well with the TV presenter who then quipped: “How rude!”

It comes after Ben was left rather flustered during Thursdays show (September 22) when he was told about Coronation Street character Mary's obsession with him. As soap fans will know the quirky character has actually planned her own Ben Shephard-themed send-off on the long-running ITV show.

And unsurprisingly, the Good Morning Britain panel couldn't help but mock their co-host yesterday. Chuckling away, Richard Arnold explained: "You may recall that you've got quite a fan girl in Corrie's Ma Taylor. It's starting to get a little bit uncomfortable now." Richard continued: "Her obsession reached new highs earlier this week or lows, depending on which way you look at it.

"While discussing funerals, Mary revealed that she quite fancies a Ben Shephard-themed send-off. If you think that's weird on its own, just wait until you hear what type of coffin Mary would like."

The whole situation left Arnold and Kate Garraway in utter hysterics, with them taking Mary's idea and running with it. Spotting a gap in the market, they created a custom image of what a Ben Shephard bedroom showroom would like it.
