GMBs Susanna Reid takes aim at The Crowns sick Princess Diana crash replica

Susanna Reid has waded into the debate after Netflix's The Crown has been slammed for replicating the car which Princess Diana died in.

The 52-year-old presenter was back on our screens on Monday (March 20) to present Good Morning Britain with co-host Ed Balls.

They welcomed Richard Arnold into the ITV1 studio to discuss the latest showbiz news.

Richard flagged the controversy surrounding the pictures from The Crown set of Princess Diana's fatal car accident, and Susanna didn't hold back.

Susanna said: "It actually gives me the chills, and not in a good way."

Richard added: "It will stir up the debate on wether The Crown should air a disclaimer on TV before every episode.

Susanna injected: "This is not an historical or documentary disclaimer, this is about taste and decency isn't it?

"This is the fact that that is an horrific event where somebody was terribly badly wounded and died, and her children are still around and will see that."

Princess Diana died on August 31 1997 after suffering fatal injuries in a car crash in the Pont de l'Alma road tunnel in Paris.

Her companion Dodi Fayed and driver and security guard Henri Paul were also killed in the devastating crash.

In October last year, The Crown received huge backlash after witnesses saw Netflix crews filming haunting scenes showing Diana, played by Elizabeth Debicki, in a black Mercedes just 100 yards from the tunnel.

Shocking pictures from set reveal that show bosses have recreated the crash despite previously insisting that the "exact moment" of the accident will not be shown on screen.

According to The Mail, photos unveil a model of the wreckage – complete with a crushed bonnet, smashed windscreen, and buckled wheels.

Susanna is not the only one who has hit out at Netflix bosses over the upcoming scenes.

A source told the publication: "I think a lot of people will find it quite sick that they went into such detail to recreate how the car was smashed up.

“I think it’s going to cause a lot of upset with the Royal Family. If it was any other family I’m not sure they’d do it."

Diana’s close friend Simone Simmons recently revealed that the hit drama risks forcing Prince William and Prince Harry to recall “the most painful time” of their lives.

Lorraine Kelly also described The Crown's decision to feature Princess Diana's car accident as "distasteful".
