Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis was set to host Martin’s Money Mondays on Good Morning Britain this week alongside presenter Susanna Reid, but due to the ongoing coverage of the protocol following the Queen's death, the segment was postponed.
The popular finance journalist and TV host had announced he was planning the special segment for Monday’s programme, which would cover the cost of living crisis but instead, the show paid tribute to the Queen who died last week.
Confirming that he'd been bumped, Martin tweeted: "Just a very quick note. After a chat with @gmb last week, we both agreed it’d be both more appropriate to move “Martin’s Money Mondays” later this week (& prob next) and give more time to cover the latest cost of living issues as part of the programme."
Speaking about the new segment which will be a weekly special, Martin said: ‘I’ve been the Money Saving Expert for over 20 years – and in that time I’ve never seen anything like the cost of living crisis hitting the nation today, focused around the sickening rises in energy bills. Millions of families risk being forced into poverty by it."
He continued: "Sadly right now the best I can hope to offer many of those families is damage limitation, only the politicians have the power to provide actual solutions.
"So sitting alongside Susanna each Monday, I’m glad GMB is giving us a dual purpose of practical help and holding power to account."
TV schedules continue to be in flux as the country prepares for the Queen's historic state funeral which will take place on Monday 19 September.
Following the Queen’s death, Loose Women was cancelled again today in a TV schedule shake-up to ensure the maximum coverage of the many significant events in the royal calendar.
Good Morning Britain aired as usual from 6am to 9am, followed by Lorraine back on air for the first time since the sad news broke last Thursday (September 8).
This Morning also aired at its usual time of 10am but finished at at an earlier time of 12pm to make way for an extended ITV News Special which covered The King’s Tour – Northern Ireland – meaning Loose Women's usual slot at 12.30pm could not go ahead.
King Charles, 73, and Camilla, 75, touched down at Belfast City Airport at Tuesday lunchtime, continuing the new monarch's tour of the UK since he ascended the throne following the death of Queen Elizabeth ll on Thursday, 8 September.
After travelling from the airport to Hillsborough Castle, the King and Queen Consort got out of their vehicle to greet jubilant crowds – some of whom had been there since dawn.
In one touching moment, the King stopped to stroke a corgi that was lifted up by its owner to meet him.
No doubt it was a touching and memorable moment for the new King, as the Queen was known to own and adore corgis throughout her life.
The Queen's coffin will be flown back to London today, accompanied by The Princess Royal, 72, and her husband Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence.
Once it arrives in London, it will rest overnight in the Bow Room at Buckingham Palace before being transferred to Westminster Hall where the Queen will lie-in-state from Wednesday 13 September to Monday 19 September, before her funeral takes place at 11.30am at Westminster Abbey on Monday.
This week, OK! celebrates the life of Her Majesty the Queen with a commemorative special in honour of Britain’s longest reigning monarch. Be sure to pick up your copy.
