Gordon Ramsay attempts to make Bangers & Mash in 10 minutes
In an unearthed clip from his Channel 4 show, The F Word, Gordon Ramsay got some of the brutal critiques he’s been handing out for years as he visited one of London’s top Thai restaurants to help prepare a meal for the local Buddhist monks.
Joining the 57-year-old was Blue Elephant’s executive chef Mr Chang who assured the celebrity cook that the monks are “really kind” and “never” send food back.
As part of his offering, Gordon whipped up his “quick Pad Thai” recipe, telling viewers it’s a dish he usually makes at home with “delicious King Prawns” and a combination of fish sauce and sugar to bring in the iconic “sweet and sour” flavourings of the dish.
Once the dish was assembled, with noodles, sauce and prawns plated up, Mr Chang assured Gordon that he believed “the monks will be happy”.
However, when the MasterChef judge asked if the Thai chef was happy with his recipe after the entire Blue Elephant kitchen seemed to come to a standstill to watch Gordon cook, Mr Chang insisted he had to taste the dish before delivering a verdict.
After slowly chewing through a mouthful, Mr Chang stayed ominously silent for a few minutes and just stared at Gordon before he spoke: “What do you want to know from me? Ask me.”
The father-of-five asked: “How is it?” and in response the chef pulled a grotesque face and grunted.
Mr Chang slammed the dish: “This is not Pad Thai at all!
“Pad Thai has to be sweet, sour and salty.”

Visibly shaken by hearing the brutal words he often throws around a kitchen, the Kitchen Nightmares star tried a mouthful for himself and insisted: “I think that doesn’t taste too bad,” but the Blue Elephant exec interrupted admitting that it was just his opinion.
Now with an extra layer of nerves, Gordon took his dish to the Buddhist temple in time for the monks’ 11 o’clock meal with each donated food item placed in its own small bowl on a silver platter for each monk.
As the trays headed back to the kitchen at the end of the meal, Gordon was exhilarated seeing his Pad Thai was the most eaten dish.
He gleefully joked: “Mr Chang, how can you say my Pad Thai is s**t? Look at that! It’s the most eaten bowl!”
Mr Chang again insisted that it was just his own preference, saying: “For me! Maybe the monks like that taste but I don’t like [it].”
