A GREAT British Bake Off contestant has broken their silence after they were booted off the show in the first week.
Fans were left furious last night when new baking star Will Hawkins was sent home after the first three challenges of the new series.
Former charity director Will, 45, got the boot as a fresh batch of amateur bakers were put to the test in cake week.
He failed to impress judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith in the first round with his culinary skills – and soon waved goodbye.
Reflecting on his time in the tent, Will revealed: "Wow, how amazing it has been to bake in the Bake Off tent.
"For me, Bake Off is something really special, I feel it defines a contemporary vision of Britishness – a diverse, dynamic, friendly, creative, supportive and loving place brought together by baking.

"I feel honoured to be part of that. Thank you, and let's make cake."
Re-tweeting his parting words, shared by the Great British Bake Off, he added: "It was an amazing experience."
Last night, Bake Off viewers were left furious as Will was voted off the show – as they think he should've been given more time.
Taking to Twitter to complain, one person wrote: “I’d like to see the first contestant leave on the second week… not sure we saw the best of Will."
A second added: "I really thought will had so much potential… why do they have to send someone home in week one. Just bring back the two go in one week thing."

While a third commented: “I don’t think someone should leave the first week of GBBO they need a chance."
The opening episode of the Channel 4 show saw the 12 contestants tasked with baking 12 signature mini sandwich cakes, a classic red velvet technical and a home-inspired showstopper.
Will, from London, became the first to leave the series after failing to impress judges Paul and Pruewith his ginger and caramel square signature and his London-inspired signature.
Following his exit, he said: "Someone's got to go first and obviously I'm disappointed but I'm proud to have made it.
"There's a lovely bunch of people I've met and I've got an experience that I can definitely talk about and share. I'm proud of that."
Janusz, 34, from Brighton became the first contestant to be awarded the coveted star baker title after impressing the judges with his Polish-inspired mini cakes.

He also whipped up an extravagantly decorated showstopper of his mother's flat and its colourful floral balcony.
After winning he said that receiving the title for cake week meant "everything to him".
