Grey's Anatomy Season 19 Episode 13 Preview
Grey’s Anatomy star Kevin McKidd has opened up about his potential return to the show’s 20th season after playing Owen Hunt, a surgeon with PTSD, since the fifth season of ABC’s long-running medical drama. With season 19 almost coming to an end, McKidd teased whether he will be reprising his “challenging and quite polarising character” in season 20.
Kevin McKidd has played surgeon Owen Hunt since he joined the cast of Grey’s Anatomy in 2008.
And following his recent directorial stint for the medical drama’s season 19 episode 12, he lifted the lid on whether he will be returning to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital next season.
ABC recently gave the long-running drama the greenlight to produce a 20th season, meaning the show is on its way to hitting a huge milestone.
During the conversation with The Wrap, McKidd didn’t drop any season 20 spoilers, although he did admit he has “no intentions of going anywhere”.
When asked if he is making a return to the upcoming season of Grey’s Anatomy, McKidd didn’t give much away confessing that he “doesn’t know” what’s next in store for his character Owen Hunt.
Despite remaining tight-lipped about his future on the show, he expressed his love for the character he has portrayed for over 14 years.
He explained: “I still love playing the part. I think [Owen is] a challenging and quite polarising character, which I like.
“He isn’t perfect and he makes mistakes and he can be strong-willed, but he also has a big heart. You know, he’s a paradox.”

He admitted: “So I have no intentions of going anywhere. And I love to direct as you can see, so long may that continue.”
This week, McKidd showed some love to his co-stars following the show’s 18th anniversary.
Taking to Instagram the actor shared a behind the scene selfie with Sanda Oh and James Pickens Jr as cameraman Steve Ullman could be seen peeking in the background.
