Hardcore Pawn: Haircare with Bobby J
Former Hardcore Pawn employee Bobby J has broken his silence on an infamous scene from the popular reality TV programme.
Despite wrapping for good almost 10 years ago, a new generation of viewers are getting their pawn shop fix via viral clips on TikTok.
Full episodes from YouTube are being sliced up as millions watch what life was like at Detroit’s American Jewelry and Loan.
Bobby was featured heavily in the show and recently caught up with Express.co.uk to talk all-things Hardcore Pawn nearly a decade later.
One episode showed the moment a customer brought in a special device intended to help people with hair regrowth.
Shop owner Les Gold clearly thought Bobby could benefit from the clever gadget, pulling him over to try it out.
Viewers watched as he slipped the helmet onto his head as it got to work, leaving people wondering if it actually did anything years later.
Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, explaining if the device worked miracles, Bobby said: “No, unfortunately not.”

He explained: “It gave no hair growth at all.
“All that thing did was left those little holes on my head and made me sweat, that was about it.
“That guy’s name, I will never forget him, he was John Putname, just one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met in my life.
“Just so full of energy and just a really kind guy, he was really cool.”
Bobby spoke of the weird and wonderful items brought to him and the team during his time on the wild TV show.
He said: “There would be items that people bring in just that they found around Detroit.
“I’m sure that there was some way that the camera crew reached out to people, whether it was through local Craig’s List ads or stuff like that.
“They would probably ask them ‘hey did you want to sell this on the show?’.
“That’s what makes the most sense to me because people aren’t just walking in with these things.”
Hardcore Pawn airs on BLAZE in the UK and is streaming on YouTube.
