Queen’s funeral: Jill and Joe Biden arrives at Westminster Abbey
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly asked to fly on Air Force One along with Joe Biden after the Queen’s funeral back in September 2022 – but were humilatingly denied.
Sources also told the Daily Mail that the Sussexes later invited Jill Biden, the president’s wife, to the Invictus Games but she turned down the offer due to her fears of sending the wrong message to the rest of the Royal Family.
What makes the issue even more awkward is that Harry actually shares an unlikely friendship with Jill.
The unexpected pairing first formed a bond over their shared interest in veterans around a decade ago, which resulted in both Bidens having attended Harry’s Invictus Games.
During Harry’s tour of the US back in 2013, he attended a reception of American and British wounded service members together with the First Lady.

Harry says the trip gave him the inspiration to start the Invictus Games – and Mrs Biden showed her support for the prince when she cheered the US team on at the inaugural event in London in 2014.
Jill also backed Harry in 2016 when she attended the event in Florida and again a year later in Toronto, this time along with Joe, who has previously joked about how close his wife and Harry had become.
Speaking on his wife’s involvement in the inaugural Games, Joe quipped: “Jill went to London for the last Games. She spent too much damn time with Prince Harry!”
He also addressed how easily Jill and Harry had hit it off, saying at the time: “I read in the Guardian, or one of them, and it says — I’m paraphrasing — ‘everywhere Prince Harry went, he had this blonde woman on his arm.’ The vice-president’s wife! I’m a little worried here, you know what I mean?”

At the virtual Warrior Games event, which was held last week, Dr Biden spoke highly of Harry, specifically focusing on his dedication to the military and his work with veterans.
“You live by a simple principle: Serve together, recover together,” Jill said, before adding: “It’s a philosophy not limited by the flag you wave … you’ve dedicated your time, talents and heart to lifting up service members from around the globe.”
Jill also revealed that she had finished reading Harry’s controversial autobiography Spare, which was released in January 2023, however, she didn’t give an opinion on some of the bombshells dropped in the book.
