Loose Women: Gloria Hunniford and Cliff Richard reflect on friendship
Philippa Kennedy was one of Loose Women’s original panellists, having made her first appearance on the daytime television staple the year it started.
The show launched on September 6, 1999, and two decades later it is still going strong, with many of the original hosts still presenting the programme.
Philippa was the first female news editor of the Daily Express and as well as the boss of Press Gazette.
The former Loose Women star worked alongside the likes of Ruth Langsford, Kaye Adams, Jane Moore and Nadia Sawalha.
Just last year, Loose Women shared a photograph of Philippa alongside her co-hosts on social media to mark the show’s 23rd anniversary.

It read: “23 years ago today was our first ever show on @itv. It’s also the first time Kaye, Nadia and Jane took to the panel.”
While, Kaye, Nadia and Jane still present on the show, Philippa left in 2000 following a short stint hosting.
She featured in 18 episodes of the programme before parting ways with her co-stars.
Prior to working on Loose Women, Philippa was on the shows Pot of Gold, A Word in Your Ear and Headliners.

Just three years after leaving Loose Women, Philippa was awarded an OBE in the 2003 Queen’s Birthday Honours list for her services to journalism.
Philippa was the consultant editor for the Press Gazette at the time of the accolade but she has worked for a range of publications.
The Sun described her as a Fleet Street veteran who reported for the publication in the 1970s and 1980s before she went on to work for the Daily Express for 14 years.
Philippa also had a spell working in the UAE as a features writer with The National, based in Abu Dhabi.
In 2012, the broadcaster became an ombudsman for The Sun which meant she was responsible for handling complaints from readers.
“The industry has been through a bit of a battering and I want to play a part in restoring people’s faith in British journalism,” The Guardian reports.
“Reporters strive for accuracy but things can go wrong. What’s important is how they’re put right.”
She’s now a columnist for Women & Golf and described herself on Twitter as a “besotted granny and mad keen golfer”.
