Holly Willoughby’s pals ‘furious’ that she was ‘forced’ to quit This Morning

Holly Willoughby's friends are reportedly furious regarding her departure from This Morning and claim she was forced to leave.

The 42-year-old left the nation stunned on Tuesday afternoon (October 10) after she released a statement confirming her exit from the ITV show. After 14 years working as a presenter on the flagship programme alongside former presenter Phillip Schofield and other stars, Holly told TV bosses she felt she was unable to carry on.

But following an alleged plot by a 36-year-old man who reportedly planned to kidnap the star, a close pal of Holly's said the presenter had "no choice" but to leave. Talking to The Mirror, Holly's friend shared their thoughts on the situation.

The pal said: "She is in a bad way but some things aren’t worth it no matter how much she adored This Morning. It’s terrible that one of our best presenters felt she had no choice."

Gavin Plumb from Potters Field, Harlow has been charged following an arrest which was made on Wednesday, October 4. Plumb was charged over an alleged plot to kidnap and murder TV presenter Holly.

Detective Superintendent Rob Kirby provided further info on the matter. He said: "This was an extremely fast-paced investigation, with many of our officers and national partners working overnight to secure these charges. The safeguarding of any victim is paramount and we will continue to prioritise this and working with the Metropolitan Police Service as the investigation proceeds."

During Wednesday's episode of This Morning (October 11), presenters Craig Doyle and Rochelle Humes paid their tributes. Rochelle said: "Holly loved her job here and was really looking forward to the future of the show. But recent events, especially in the past week have been hard to deal with, as she's quite rightly putting her family first."

Craig then added: "On behalf of everyone here in front and behind the camera, we just loved working with Holly. She made coming to work so much fun and we're all really really sad and we really will miss her."

Director for media and entertainment at ITV, Kevin Lygo, also released a statement. He said: "We are sad that Holly is leaving This Morning, but respect her decision, which we know will have been extremely difficult for her to make.

"Holly is one of the best loved, respected and most accomplished broadcasters in the UK. Holly has brought her unique brand of warmth, energy, humour and fun to one of the country’s most popular daytime shows, and everyone on the programme will miss her. We look forward to continuing to work with her in the future."
