Hollyoaks fans were concerned that Sid Sumner (Billy Price) was set to leave the eponymous village, and we hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it seems as though he is set to exit permanently.
The beloved character, who made his debut over three years ago, has been at the heart of some of the Channel 4 soap’s finest storylines, including the Country Lines narrative and the hard-hitting Far Right storyline.
He left the village last month, after former drugs boss Victor Brothers (Benjamin O’Mahony) returned to terrorise he and his loved ones once more, but he subsequently staged a comeback to save a trapped James Nightingale (Gregory Finnegan) from death after the bomb explosion.
Lizzie Chen-Williams (Lily Best) demanded answers, and after some persuasion, Sid complied with her request, revealing that her dad Dave (Dominic Power) paid him to do a bunk.
Sid returned the funds to Lizzie and apologised for leaving without saying goodbye, but confirmed that despite his return, he would be setting off on his travels once more.
This time, he’s going to Europe.
The teen subsequently filled Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson) and Leela Lomax (Kirsty Leigh Porter) in on his travel plans, and the duo were – like the rest of us – heartbroken to learn of his impending departure.
Ste was thankful for all that Sid has done for him, and the trio shared a heartfelt hug.
