Hollyoaks stars Owen Warner and Jemma Donovan have poked fun at reports that they have split up.
In the hit Channel 4 soap, Owen's character Romeo Nightingale is in a relationship with Jemma's character Rayne Royce. But away from the screen, the actors have been involved in a relationship since earlier this year.
Reports swirled in recent days that the actors had split, with both agreeing to stay professional as they worked together on the same show.
However, the duo seemed to poke fun at the rumours as Owen posted an Instagram story together where they said they were definitely still an item.
In the story from Monday night, Owen sarcastically stated: "I just want to address that me and Jemma have broken up."
He then went onto add that his co-star Jemma was "devastated" and "heartbroken."
But then he switched the camera to reveal that his co-star was actually sat right next to him and was chuckling at the rumours.
Owen went onto call the break-up reports "s***" as Jemma added: "We're better than ever."
In Hollyoaks, Romeo and Rayne have been involved in a heated storyline which has touched on coercive control in relationships.
But Owen has said that this is completely different to their off-screen relationship as he tries to separate her character on the screen to how she acts away from the show.
However, because their off-screen characters are so different, Owen feels this can actually make things easier at work.
"Because we are both so different to the roles we play, it makes it easy. Jemma is such a lovely girl and I don't attach her to Rayne," he told Inside Soap.
News of Owen's relationship with Jemma first came to the fore earlier this year when he posted a snap of the pair attending the British Soap Awards together.
On the red carpet, the pair were snapped with his arm round her waist and in a post on his Instagram, he wrote the caption: "Red carpet with this rocket."
This is not the first time Owen has had a romantic relationship with another member of the Hollyoaks' cast, as he was involved with Stephanie Davis before she left the soap in the summer of 2020.
