Hollyoaks heralds in a new era for The Dog In The Pond, which receives something of an update to mark a fresh start for landlords Tony and Diane Hutchinson (Nick Pickard and Alex Fletcher).
The much-loved couple took over the iconic boozer a few years ago and Tony has used his restaurant experience to transform the pub, with more of an emphasis on serving food as well as drink.
But despite the changes he’s oversaw since taking the reins, The Dog has still very much remained in the style of former owners The McQueens.
Until now!
In scenes set to hit screens next week, viewers will see The Dog undergo a makeover, as Tony prepares to relaunch the boozer to signify a brand new era for one of TV’s most iconic fictional settings.
It’s not all plain sailing for the long-serving mainstay, however, as he believes that no-one has turned up to the event, but little does he know that all of his loved ones have planned a big surprise for him.

In emotional scenes, EVERYONE turns up.
Tony is overwhelmed, as he makes a speech to mark the beginning of this new chapter for Hollyoaks’ iconic boozer, surrounded by his nearest and dearest, who couldn’t be more prouder of him.
We’re not crying, we swear.
Love is also in the air during the event, with Jack Osborne (Jimmy McKenna) and Pearl Anderson (Dawn Hope) sharing a kiss, after Dillon Ray (Nathaniel Dass) and Lucas Hay’s (Oscar Curtis) efforts to match-make them pays off.
But will the village’s new couple last?
Or is it only a matter of time before things go pear-shaped? This is Hollyoaks we’re talking about, so we reckon it’s the latter option.
Hollyoaks airs these scenes between Monday August 14 to 18 on Channel 4, or watch first from Friday August 11 on E4 and All4.
