House of the Dragon fans were shocked to learn the finale for the highly acclaimed drama had been illegally shared ahead of its premiere date. As a result, viewers took to social media with fury at those sharing what the episode entails.
The HBO drama became an instant hit when it first premiered in August, as almost 10 million people tuned in to see the Game of Thrones spin-off.
This broke the US network’s viewership record as it drew in the largest audience of a new original series in HBO history.
The show’s second episode did even better and beat its own record after 10.2 million people tuned into House of the Dragon.
As a clear indication of its demand, the fantasy series was renewed for a second series, which was met with excitement.
While the season finale was supposed to be a welcome end to the series, fans were angered after the episode was leaked online.
Many took to social media to blast HBO and those responsible for releasing the episode before it was supposed to air.
Taking to Twitter, @kaffeearchives wrote: “I’m fuming. I was beyond excited for the finale and now I’m in a sour mood over the spoilers.”
The user later basted those who continued to share the leaks and added: “How about we stop commenting on the HOTD leaks?”
An angered @_rojasv asked: “HOW THE F**K DID THE SEASON FINALE OF HOTD LEAK?”
@ohmyseola tweeted: “Saw all the hotd leaks and I’m so angry and disappointed they ruined the dance of the dragons.” (sic)
A fifth viewer @tubaistired stated: “Now why in the f**k did they leak the last episode of hotd…I’m trying so hard to avoid it.”
@AnCaldazar shared: “I still don’t understand how the hell did this episode of HOTD leak.”

Here’s a look at the House of the Dragon finale [INSIGHT]
A spokesperson for HBO confirmed the leak as they addressed it with a statement, which read: “We are aware that the 10th episode of House of the Dragon has been posted on illegal torrent sites.
“It appears to have originated from a distribution partner in the EMEA region.”
They continued: “HBO is aggressively monitoring and pulling these copies from the internet.
“We’re disappointed that this unlawful action has disrupted the viewing experience for loyal fans of the show, who will get to see a pristine version of the episode when it premieres Sunday on HBO and HBO Max, where it will stream exclusively in 4K.”
The finale titled The Black Queen is expected to reveal the aftermath of teenager Aegon Targaryen (played by Ty Tennant) being crowned King, even though he didn’t want the title.
This came after the death of Viserys Targaryen (Paddy Considine), but it sparked major fury among the Small Council as his firstborn daughter Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) was supposed to be his heir.
As a result, Princess Rhaenys (Eve Best) crashed Aegon’s coronation ceremony on her dragon Meleys and although they burst through the floorboards and sparked chaos, she decided not to yell “Dracarys”.
House of the Dragon finale will air Sunday on HBO in the US and on the following Monday on Sky Atlantic in the UK
